SKY KING from other lands
I have read all the above reviews and I concur with most of what is said. Good, clean, fun show. A bit dated(or is it WE who are the dated ones?!). I searched the internet and found a complete set that, when it arrived, came with Chinese postage and lettering. The quality was pretty good(an 7-8 out of 10, so it could be a Chinese copy of this very set!) and it was about $100. I know, foolish to use these fly-by-night(pun intended)boot-leggers... but if no commercial outfit is going to release them, what's a fella going to do???At 60 I still get a thrill from watching those Cessnas fly(there were two). If you can afford it, buy it. If not, search the web and take your chances. Now, how about good copies of 77 Sunset Strip, Maverick, Hawaiian Eye and Adventures in Paradise? (Am I dating myself???)It is a pleasure to watch, I must admit. Sure miss Kirby Grant and Gloria Winters. Say, Kirby Grant Hoon was an interesting and talented fellow. Check him out on the net! Winters got married and retired after the series ended. Aah... those surely were the days.Lucky to have what we do....Scott O' the NorthPS Penny(Gloria Winters) was married to an acquaintance of mine. A CBS soundman whom I met on the LOU GRANT set(another good show not on DVD). He was a great guy named Dean Vernon. RIP both now.UPDATE as of Jan. 2013.I just purchased THIS set for full price. All the views and questions as stated remain. All I wish to add is that this IS the original of that Chinese "knock-off" set I paid $100 for about a year ago. Picture quality and sound do NOT look re-mastered, still about a 7-8 out of ten, but okay and very viewable. All the menu buttons seem to work here and that's important. It is my impression that Kirby Grant once owned the rights to these, but "Sky King Inc." seems to now have control. It's the only game in town. You might wait and purchase a used copy, but stay with this set, not any other!Keep the nose up and watch out for head winds..!Scott Harrison

One of my favorite shows as a kid
I loved this show as a kid. The video is not the best at times. The price of this collection is pretty steep. Loved the booklet that came with it! 60 years later I still love the episodes. Kirby Grant was great in his role. I had a crush on Penny and I still have one.

Was one of my favorite TV shows when I was a child of the early sixties.
Was excited to see that the entire series was available as a Box Set. Even better was when Ron, from Flying Crown Entertainment, called me to ask if I wanted the Box Set as pictured on the Amazon page, or the cool "Sky King" Binder that I have pictured here. Same price for either one. Both come with a Booklet about the show. Video quality is good, with some minor issues considering the transfer from 60 year old film. Audio quality is also good. I have not watched all of the episodes yet, but have watched the first two discs (8 episodes) and have been very pleased with the experience. Customer Support from Flying Crown Entertainment is excellent. This show is what started my love of airplanes and is in no small way responsible for me becoming a pilot.

Father's Day gift
I bought this for my father on Father's Day. Back in the day he lived in Apple Valley, CA with Gramma Hutsell (not her name then-she was married to somebody else) who was Penny's stunt double for the show, not Kirby Grant's like I had been told previously. Occasionally, Dad had a cameo as an extra in the crowd scenes, probably for a split-second as a skinny little kid with a blond crew cut. He would have been in the fourth grade when Gramma was working for the show. I personally have never seen the show except for one episode on the website, Dailymotion just a couple of days ago and I sent this to my Dad, two states away, so I cannot really attest to the quality. But I did get an email from Dad and a Facebook posting from Mom that Dad was pretty stoked. Dad has a personally autographed picture of Kirby Grant next to the Songbird and that is all he has and all my life I have looked at that picture and sort of wondered about it. I always wanted to see the show but I was born in 1969 long after the show went off the air and to my knowledge it has not been on since.Upon receiving the Cd's this morning, Dad emailed me:"Boy is this going to be a trip down memory lane."Thank you,"Dad."Pretty cool. Thanks, guys!!!

Fantastic product, even better service!
Fantastic series and even better service from seller. We apparently had 2 disc's that were the wrong episodes on them however before we could even contact the seller, we received a package in the mail with two corrected disc's letting us know that there was a mixup at creation and we matched the dates of the products being swapped. They sent us both corrected disc's without ever needing to be asked and my dad loves every bit of the show. This was 5 star service and I thank those behind the product sincerely. You made my dad's Father's Day 10000% better.

Sky King on DVD
I like the superb vision. Despite the age of the original material, the visuals were clear and sharp. Sadly the sound was very poor indeed. It was very distorted as if it had been heavily over amplified. Nevertheless the set was a satisfying transfer from film to DVD

A show from Television's early days
The price for a series that is complete is reasonable. Picture quality is excellent. Finding any complete or near complete series from the 1950's is rare, especially considering that Sky King predates the advent of VHS cassettes.
