Solid choice for a cargo carrier
Bought this for a long family trip from CT to FL knowing everything wouldn't fit in the SUV. This one is huge. I fit a XL duffle bag, 2 medium suitcases, 2 boxes and several other miscellaneous items in it. I filled it up (probably a little too much) so I had to push down a little to lock it. I think it needs more than one way to lock it or secure it though. It seemed to me the wind could lift it from the sides. I think latches on the sides would solve that. I wound up putting straps over the top since I was doing a lot of highway driving. It's pretty easy to put on and secure. It's solid once mounted. I've never had another box so I'm not sure if the rear opening is better or worse than side opening ones. I'm 6 ft and I would guess some shorter would have a hard time reaching the lock when it's on a SUV. I had to stand in the doorways to load/unload the box; especially for the stuff in the front of the box. This is a huge box that covered the whole top of my GMC Terrain. I bought this one because I needed the space and the price was great. It will work for me the few times a year I will use it. If I used it more often I think I'd get something different that's easy to mount. My small complaints are no latches on the sides and my stuff got a little wet during some heavy rain. I'm going to coat the mounting brackets with some rubber coating so they don't scratch up my bars. Overall, I think this a good choice for a large box; it's a great price for such a large box. Even tho I ordered thru Amazon I still got a $30 rebate from Pep Boys right before our trip.

Make sure brackets are tightened snugly, but not too tight. After about 50-100 miles....recheck brackets to see if need adjust.
Drove 1200 miles with it on top of my Toyota Rav4 and did fine driving around 75-80 mph. Had about 100 lbs worth of gear and bags, but would have taken some more as it was rated for 130 lbs. Rain and hail neither hurt it or allowed contents to get wet. Good price and backed by Pep Boys. Seems a bit flimsy, but if installed right, will do fine. I did have to drill a new set of bracket holes at the rear end of it as my Rav4 luggage rack on top was too narrow for the storage box. The predrilled holes did not work for it.

Kept our cargo safe thru rain and snow
Wow! This is huge! It fit ask the luggage fit 6 adults. We had a week-long vacation and traveled over 3,000 miles. My husband installed it without any problems.when we reached our destination, we removed it. It kept our cargo protected thru rain and snow. It locks with a key and cannot be removed without opening it. We stayed the night in a hotel and our cargo was secure. The only drawback is that you can't go over 65 mph. I have a newer model pathfinder.

Rear loading was easy by stepping on the back bumper of my Subaru ...
I used this on an 1100 mile road trip. It held a full size piece of luggage, a large cooler (30 rack on ice with food on top of that), 2 grocery bags, 2 back packs and a duffel bag no problem! At times we were going over 80 mph and it held up really well. Rear loading was easy by stepping on the back bumper of my Subaru CrossTrek with factor cross bars. For an XL carrier I was really happy how it fits on my compact cross over. Super easy to install, just make sure you get your cross bars square (use a tape measure).

easy install that doesn’t require drilling holes through roof rack
Lots of space, easy install that doesn’t require drilling holes through roof rack. Seems to be sturdy against the wind, haven’t had it through rain yet.
