The item is not substantial. The wood is not sturdy. The locking mechanism is very poor. The only reason I kept them is my dogs all respect the barrier, so dont even try to get out. But if your dogs are not like that, I would guess it wouldn't take more than a few minutes before they escape. I bought 2 of the large gates and three of the small and without exception, none of the locks worked. I solved the problem by purchasing 2 1/2" nickel wire gate hook and eye sets from weshine hear on Amazon.

This shold be a simple gate with a simple latch. The "locking" hook is not easy to use, and usually takes two hands. I wouldn't recommend it when there are more usable ones out there.

Style of gate is good for pets who are small to medium and don’t jump on or push gate. The wood is very thin and cheaply made. My GSD chewed right through mine easily. Not good for small children either.

my little pup, lucky, hated that I bought this. Cause it works! we first got the really expensive retractable ones but it sucked so badly. I hate it more than anything. This one is easy to install, simple to close & lock and my little 70lb luck cant get through it lol

Very lightweight so only use for a dog who won't try to get through. I suspect a strong dog could easily break it. Very rough and prone to small slivers-- I painted mine and it's still very rough. Looks and works OK though.

This gate is complete trash. Our dog chewed up our old one and I was trying to avoid paying $60 for one so I bought this cheaper one. The rungs are all falling apart, it’s so hard to work, the baby can push on it and sections fall out, it’s worthless. It looks really awful and works even worse. I wish I had just spent the $60 on the nicer one again.

This fit our situation perfectly. We don't have aggressive dogs so the integrity of the fence wasn't in question. I don't believe it would hold back larger dogs. The ability to turn the fence flat against the wall is wonderful. I coated the bottom spindle things with felt to prevent any damage to the floor. Because it is light and non-bulky it does work well for a more permanent desire.

Screws broke into the wall because of the bad quality. Also a dangerous product with small children. Can cause pinching and head caught under or over gate.
