The box is not much like the photo, but is a much higher quality, very beautiful with spotless wood, nice lining and impeded anchor on the top in brass. The size was indicated as being 2.5”x2.5” but is really 3.25x3.25”, I was really looking for the smaller size as it was going to be a prop for 18” doll photos. It is however a great piece, the compass is perfect true north, the locking mech works very well. The sundial was king of stiff, but will lock in place, the finish is great. I see some people complained about not being able to read instructions but there were no instructions in my box. It is well worth it for the price, the box alone would be worth it.

This is a nice sundial compass. The only issue I had is the numbers on the one I received did not match the product as pictured.

I bought this for my husband as a Christmas gift and he loved it! He's been tinkering with it on and off for days, having the most fun learning to navigate and tell time using the sundial. When he's not using it he's still able to admire it in its beautiful wood display box. This made an excellent gift and I'm looking forward to finding similar pieces to add to his new collection!

This is a really nice gift for someone. It technically should work, but upon very close inspection there are little details that make it questionable. The felt inside the box is a bit scratch up, the legs on the compass are bowed. I ordered a stick on brass plate to add to my gift for inside the box. It looks beautiful on display.

got this for my granddaughter, she loves Harry Potter, and he had a broom compass, so I searched and found one with a sundial and case. case is a bit cheap, but the compass is AWESOME. she absolutely LOVES it. she is in scouts, and they have used compasses before, this is no cheap little camp compass, it really reminds me of what was used on ships centuries ago. Thank You!

Case is darker than picture but adds to antique look. Wish the date instructions on the inside of the lid were larger. Also wish it came with instructions, but I guess thats what youtube is for.

I’m giving this to my Grandson as a gift, it is going to be part of a treasure hunt. It is perfect! Although, I did have to look on YouTube to see exactly how it works. But I absolutely love it and I’m hoping my grandson loves it as well☺️🎄The box it comes in is amazing.

This was way better than i thought it would be. The box is as beautiful as the sundial. I bought 2 of these for my boys and they love it! I may buy more for a few family members that I know would love them too. It is also very affordable as well. I would recommend this to anyone. I'm vary happy with it.

Had this product on my wish list for sometime until I could get it at what I would consider a reasonable price. The Brass Antique finish is what is really nice. The compass works beautifully and as a replica of a Nautical Sundial Compass it makes a great display. The wooden box it comes in is also very nice. Note that if your not really particular about the finish the same compass is available in a gold colour at half the price or was when I first put this on my wish list. So anyone that is into old nautical gear and is not particular that this is a replica it would make themselves or others a nice present.

Not sure how to evaluate this. Does not indicate north. How am I suppose to use it?Am I doing something wrong?

Compass needle is very cheaply made, the locking mechanism on mine did not work, there is no level bubble to let you know how level it is, no instructions…… if youre looking for a small decoration you may be ok with it, but if you intend on ever actually using it or giving as a gift I would not bother with it!
