I’d recommend Owen’s poems for their masterful use of phonetics
Nearly all Owen’s poems are well crafted, and most are outstanding. Don’t think you know his poetry by the few that are known. I find myself enjoying many in this book that I have not seen elsewhere. I’d recommend Owen’s poems for their masterful use of phonetics, something that is sorely missing in many twentieth-century English-language poets. Some poems in here are not “mature,” and maybe Owen may have never wanted them published, but even these contain beautiful turns of phrase. This edition is also excellent for someone who loves Owen’s poetry but doesn’t care about every alternate version or other products of Stallworthy’s research. That being said, each poem is lightly annotated, and the date and location of its writing is noted. Also, Stallworthy describes what other poems Owen pays homage to, borrows from, or is inspired by, and I have found many other wonderful poems by Harold Monro, Percy Shelley, and Tennyson that inspired Owens through these notes.

Poems of the First World War
The First World War produced many poets. Outstanding amongst these was Wilfred Owens whose poetry exposes the horrors of trench warfare rather than the "glory". The reader can almost see and hear the shells bursting over the lines and witness the carnage. Anyone who wants a true picture of the effects of war on the soldiers should read this book.

A good collection
I’m not a huge lover of poetry for the sake of poetry. I am more of a lyric person but I do genuinely have a soft spot for the poetry of world war one. It is a little bit of a naïve love and tends to be focused on the famous poets but that is why I invested in this collection of poems by Wilfred Owen.Anything I say in review will sound trite so I will just say this. For an accurate representation of what World War One was like then look no further than the works of Wilfred Owen. He doesn’t glorify war or make it seem magic. His poetry is a truth among the verisimilitude of propaganda.Poems (The World at War) by Wilfred Owen is available now.

Enlightening and challenging.
A bit deep at times for a simple soul like me, but interesting to read bearing in mind how much he is touted as an anti-war poet. He is obviously deeply moved by what he sees but he was a sensitive mind in a very brave body. A must read for any student of that war.

Haunting poems, beautifully presented.
Owen's fabulous poems presented in a beautifully designed clothbound hardback format. The copy delivered had been assembled upside down. This was a minor distraction for a haunting book of poems.

The man from the trenches keeps the spell.
Wilfred Owen is the poet to choose if you want to capture the feeling and impressions of life for an officer who is close to the front line in France and Belgium during the First Workd War, and who returned from convalescence to the Western Front. More poignant still, he died in action as the war dwindled to its end.His poetry has sympathy for all involved in the action, showing feelings of fear, futility and empathy with the enemy who suffered the same privations. Read this book, and appreciate a poet of true ability who conveys meaning so clearly and effectively.

Read this to know what it was like in trenches and feel angry.
Harrowing poetic accounts of that terrible war, which leave you knowing some of the terrible experiences that ordinary men were forced to endure and suffer

A major English poet
This is probably the best available edition of the poems for the interested reader. It tracks Owen's development up to his meeting with Sassoon and clearly demonstrates how this meeting and the experience of the trenches reshaped his juvenile poetic origins into a means of ironic reflection on the implications of War.

Poignant poems
I was looking through a friends bookshelf and came across this book.I'd heard of Wlifred Owen but hadn't read his work. The poems are about life as a soldier in the first world war and very moving. He died as a young man and left these wonderful poems for us all to read that we may understand what it was like for young soldiers back then.

Wonderful !
Would recommend this book to Students and/or anyone with a love or fondness for poetry, Very Moving, knowing that W.O. left this earth far too early adds to the sentiment, .............. I also like the short biography at the beginning and the explanation of origin of the poems and where they were written. Good Value !
