For the curious, self-taught and everything inbetween
I have long loved the specific and painstaking process involved in botanical art. It requires much thought and planning to achieve desired results...this book makes it easier to comprehend the choices and design behind the craft. The author includes her studies, showing in depth the pigments she used and thoughts behind her decisions. This is not a step-by-step book entirely, but more of a supplementary source of knowledge and inspiration, that will help an artist mix colors better, notice specific details and develop their own system. Wether or not you take a class in this, the content included is very useful and thought out!

Totally enjoyed this book!
It’s a wonderful glimpse into one artist’s journey through the SBA Certificate program. It’s just what I was looking for. (I bought the Kindle version. I believe the formatting might be a bit off (I mean sometimes text and photo not appearing side by side as it might be in the print version—hard to say. But I was willing to to deal with that minor issue so that I could zoom in on the images.)

My favorite and oft-referred to botanical illustration book.
This was my first botanical illustration book purchase and I must say I was not disappointed! I've read and purchased several more (carefully chosen) since then and yet this one remains my very favorite and oft-referred to. I simply love it! It's very helpful to me to see not only the tutor's comments on her sketchbook, SBA assignments, and SBA diploma pieces, but also to see how she worked these things out, what colors she used, and so on, is super-helpful and inspiring. A great resource!

Lost but good ole Amazon had me another book in one day.
I ordered this book and since I am a prime member felt as something had happened the fourth day it had not arrived. I called them and they had another new book sent and delivered the next day. If you always want to be a happy customer use Amazon. The book itself is excellent but I must admit that it is a bit past my level of expertise. I am sure that after a few more months of work that I will be much closer to using it. I think then that I will really like it.

Look over the shoulder at a studen the master teacher's progress through learning Botanical Illustration
While not the "how-to" I expected, for someone interested in Botannical watercolor or drawing, this books opens up in detail the kind of learning required as you follow both student and master through her work as she progresses through the two year course and critiques of her kind-hearted, yet eagle-eyed master teachings. I will go back to this again and again.

Wow! What a great book!
I bought this book as an art reference book and it serves that purpose very well. It's packed with very well done watercolor sketches of plants, fruits and vegetables. There are color swatches and lots of margin notes from the artist, Mary Ann Scott. I've already gotten a lot of great art ideas from this book and I'm sure it will continue to serve me very well for many years to come.

Mir gefällt es!
Gerade weil es kein typisches Lehrbuch ist, sondern eigentlich nur der Weg und die Entwicklung einer Schülerin durch ihr Studium zeigt, gefällt es mir so gut.
