Acer Aspire 5 A515-54G 15.6-inch Laptop - (Intel Core i7-10510U, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Nvidia GeForce MX250, Full HD Display, Windows 10, Silver)

I received this Intel core 7 with Nvidia graphics and 512 SSD hard drive very quickley and the packaging was excellent. My silver laptop was very easy to set up using Windows 10 Cortana and the quality of construction is good. I had been put off my independent reviews that said the screen brightness was not very high but I found it great. It also comes with a fingerprint detector which works well. Contacting Acer was easy and their after sales service professional and good. I read other Amazon reviews before ordering and they were all positive and I think I made a great choice. It has lots of features found on more expensive laptops and a nice big 15.6 inch screen. I cannot fault resolution. I am not interested in game playing so cannot comment but otherwise start up of Windows is quick (virtue of SSD). It connected to my Internet quickly with zero hassel. Speed of applications loaded seems fine to me and the quality of sound from speakers is good. The user manual has to be downloaded from Acer and gives basic instructions but no mention of the webcam so I have yet to try that out.

Nice and fast, gets a little hot and the fan can get noisy, but not as bad as laptops at twice the price.

So far it’s excellent. Like most modern laptops no Optical disks but lots of USB ports to connect one. Graphics card allows you the option to play games and it plays Blu-ray movies from an external drive flawlessly via VLC player. SSD drive is fast and silent. SSD drives are much smaller in capacity than HDD of old so if like me your using lots of video files then get an external HDD as it fills up fast. On the plus side the memory, processor and graphics card makes video editing easy and reasonably fast. For the money I don’t think you will get much better. Only issue might be down the line as it looks like a sealed battery so don’t know how easy it is to replace but I can get 7 hours out of it as long as I don’t play games or the sound card - the sound is good for a laptop and excellent through external headphones/speakers but now it’s being used as a Blu-ray player as well I might get an external sound card to output full 7.1 surround sound. Really light weight and thin so easy to carry around. Full HD screen is bright and colours vibrant but I normally output to the tv via HDMI as I am now working from home during lock down. The keyboard is short travel and silent keys and the mouse touch pad is accurate. I always use external keyboard and mouse when I can but it’s fine to use on your lap in the living room so will be fine to use when out and about. Didn’t realise I needed a finger print scanner until I got this laptop - so easy to use and so far really reliable. Not the cheapest given the specs but got it on interest free instalments as the kids needed my laptop for school work during lock down and I didn’t have the spare cash to buy it on one go. So definitely worth it if your buying on interest free instalments and I now have a much much better laptop than I could otherwise justify buying. And it looks brilliant - think Apple style looks and finish.

Bought in a hurry when lockdown began I was forced to buy Acer, a brand I would never have normally considered. This PC is fast and the on-board graphics ram should make it a dream to use for streaming and editing video etc.BUT the build quality is shockingly bad, the plastic case is flimsy and the"ALUMINIUM" finish rubbed off within weeks just from normal ware. The is poor hardware is poorly put together and the machine frequently crashes. But these are no ordinary crashes, everything this machine fails it rests the uefi bios, locking you out for 20 minutes at a time and losing any customisation when it does finally daint to boot.As a developer I need configurabiluty and the ability to dual boot the bios rests makes this a nightmare to achieve.Stay well away if you value your sanity!

Not only does it look sleek and sturdy, it performs amazingly, the battery lasts a long time and it doesn't overheat. I really enjoy this laptop. Amazing value for the quality.

This is my second Acer. It's always a good buy. Fast. Easy to setup. Light. Amazing audio. Very good resolution. It connects with all the devices of my home. I don't use it for gaming.

The laptop is great. Works really well and is sturdy. Amazing definition. Shame it is not touch.

Picked one of these up in the warehouse and although it's a very capable laptop it's a bit cheap feeling when compared to the competition, the case has quite a bit of flex, the keyboard isn't great, it's heavy at 2.2 kg and it's a bit noisy due to poor cooling which could create complications down the line, had I not have picked it up at sub £400 I'd be a bit disappointed.That said it does have a good sized ssd, a good screen, good battery life and a 2gb mx250 Gpu (the 25w one).
