Didn't work
I used this for 2 months and my numbers didn't change, which was very discouraging after spending $395. Perhaps I need to use it for longer? It is uncomfortable to wear and this comes from someone who wears a large mouthguard without problem every night. In addition, you have a battery on your forehead all night, which is probably not great for you. I don't think it's worth the $$. Perhaps worth trying if it was under $100.

It definitely helps!
Prior to finding the SleepGuard Biofeedback Headband, I thought I had tried absolutely everything for my TMJ. I had tried several night guards (custom made from the dentist, and a few over-the-counter guards), chiropractic, hypnosis, yoga, meditation, herbal remedies, prescription meds, ice packs, heat packs, etc. Some of those things were helpful, but they have not solved the problem with my TMJ. So when I stumbled upon the SleepGuard on Amazon, I thought I might as well give it a try. Although, it has not eliminated my TMJ, it definitely helps. I notice a significant improvement in my jaw, and so does my chiropractor. I will continue to do yoga, chiropractic, heat packs, etc., and I still have to use my night guard, so that I don't break more teeth -- but I will keep using the SleepGuard because it has lessened my symptoms.

No jaw popping or cracking or ear pressure in months.
About a year ago I started having pain in my right jaw and ear. There was a lot of popping and crackling. Then my right ear closed up. It felt like I had fluid in my ear. I went to the doctor, but she said my ears were fine. She referred me to the dentist. He said I had no symptoms of grinding but perhaps I was clenching my jaw. He gave me a bite guard, and I went on my way. A few months later, the same thing happened on the left side, yet this time my ear stayed clogged. I also noticed swelling near the jaw line on both sides of my face. I hated the stupid bite guard, and obviously, it wasn't doing enough. I went back to the doctor. Still nothing wrong with my ears, but my left ear was completely clogged. She suggested jaw swelling closing off the Eustachian Tube. Her solution was to reduce stress and keep using the bite guard. I have a mother on dialysis and a father with dementia who lives with me. Reducing stress isn't really an option.I went home and found the SleepGuard Headband. I emailed the designer and owner, Lee Weinstein, who was very informative regarding TMJ and the reasons for my jaw stiffness and pain, enlarged facial muscles at the jawline, and the sensation of pressure in my ear. I ordered the device and found it easy to use. I did have to use the gel pads because my skin would dry out during the night and cause the device to give false beeps. Make sure to adjust the strap just right or it will come off. If you follow all the tips and tricks, it should work well. Don't forget to do the daytime training exercises.Mr. Weinstein stated, "The average person who exhibits no TMJ symptoms does less than 5 seconds of damaging clenching per night. The range of nightly damaging clenching times for people with chronic TMJ-related pain and/or discomfort is from about 30 seconds of damaging clenching per night to about 370 seconds of damaging clenching per night." My clench numbers were around 160-220 seconds of damaging clenching per night to start. After 6 months of using the headband, my numbers were under the damaging threshold. Today, I no longer wear the headband, but it is in my closet just in case. The funny thing is that sometimes I catch myself clenching in my sleep if I've had a stressful day, but my brain wakes me up automatically now. I relax my jaw and go back to sleep. I haven't had any popping or cracking or the ear problems in a couple of months. I hope the SleepGuard headband works as well for you.

I have tried mouth guards, PT, self massage, tons of exercises, and acupuncture over the course of 10+ years for my TMJ pain and nothing has helped as much as the sleepguard biofeedback headband. It has really changed my life!! It actually corrects the problem instead of just giving you a bandaid for the pain. I had some problems at first with it because my subconscious (the part of my brain that is addicted to clenching) was fighting back but the customer service reps at sleepguard were so helpful and gave so much good information and together we were able to fix the problem. It really works if you are willing to put in the time to retrain your subconscious!!! Worth every penny!
