Ted Tabura Born and raised in Hawaii, Shihan Tabura began his martial arts training under his cousin's tutelage in a backyard dojo. Later, after moving to Southern California, Ted discovered the Okinawa-te dojo headed by another Hawaii-born instructor, Shihan Gordon Doversola. While training at the Okinawa-te dojo, Tabura met John Louis, who became his final instructor in Okinawa-te. Martial art has been a way of life for Master Tabura. There were many years of tournament competition in which Shihan Tabura won many trophies around the world. Tabura Sensei was dubbed The Sickle Man by Sijo Adriano Emperado, founder of Kajukenbo, for his mastery in the use of the Japanese kama (sickles). Shihan Tabura directs the annual Festival of the Kings Karate Championship in Maui, Hawaii, one of the greatest tournaments in the U.S. About the Director Val Mijailovic 50 year veteran of martial arts, World Karate Champion, World Karate Union Hall of Fame Inductee, United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame Inductee, Multi-business founder/owner and award winning documentary filmmaker. Val holds a 8th degree black belt in martial arts and is a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences - Cinematographers Peer Group. Wanted for future generations
First off I purchased this dvd to keep as a memory of a teacher of mine. This is a ok demo dvd but I do not think it would be good to learn from more a over view of his style of lima lama .

Martial Art Review
Although I respect Lima Lama and Lua, the issue I have is that this particular form or lineage addresses only counter attacks from the straight punches, specifically jab and cross from Western boxing, and the thrusting vertical punch from Japanese Jujitsu.To get the most out of the basic concepts, maybe apply them against a variety of attacks?
