Indus Organics Ginger Powder, 1 Lb Jar, Sulfite Free, Premium Grade, High Purity, Freshly Packed

This ginger has a great taste, and for being organic it seems to have a reasonable price tag. I contacted Indus Organics, which confirmed that this is actually grown in India. That may be a plus for consumers who want to avoid ginger from other particular countries.I use this ginger for tea. The taste is strong, but perhaps not quite as potent as what I previously employed: the contents of ginger pills. However, those pills contained additives, were more expensive by weight, and did not claim to be organic. In any event, this product from Indus Organics certainly is not weak.One negative is that there was damage to the protective seal upon arrival. When I pulled off the lids to inspect them, one had a crack part-way across the seal. There was also a minor amount of separation between part of the seal and the edge of the plastic where it should have connected. I don't remember if the latter issue initially affected just one or both containers.I contacted Indus Organics about this, and was told that they use a "pressure sensitive seal" rather than a glue seal, to avoid chemical contamination. Maybe the seal was good until removal of the lid? There was still the issue of the crack, which might have occurred during shipping. In any event, I was promptly offered a replacement, but just decided to stick with the ones that I had.Along with another reviewer noting the same broken seal issue on this 2-pack, there are a couple of reviewers who mentioned it on the product page for the single 1 lb container. So depending on how important that is to you, you may want to do further due diligence before purchasing (perhaps contacting the company). That is the only reason I docked the rating from 5 to 4 stars. If you're not concerned over this issue, then it ought to be a product you'll appreciate.If you're looking to go through 2 lb of ginger powder, this may be the item for you. If you use a tsp each day, this 2-pack should last a year or more. Mine arrived a while ago (October 2012) and the best before date is September 2014. For freshness, if you don't think you'd finish 2 lb within a couple years, it might be better to go for the single 1 lb container that is also available on Amazon. For storage, keep the containers in a place that is out of direct sunlight, and also away from heat and moisture.For those who may be interested, this spice is considered to be an especially strong anti-inflammatory. Do some searching for "gingerol" - the main active component - and you can find more information.

Ginger is the do-all must have in anyone's pantry. It can be added to just about everything and it is so very good for the human body in so many ways. We consume it in very large doses as it is what we call a 'super-herb' and really has a lot of powerful antioxidants well worth consuming. This company offers many organic herbs in large quantities at a very reasonable price which eliminates having to reorder constantly. The product arrived fresh and aromatic, telling us it was not something that sat on a back shelf for a long time prior to being mailed off. This is a huge jar but with the amount of ginger we consume in our smoothies and other foods I'm betting we will be reordering within a month's time, along with their 1 lb. jar of fresh turmeric, another must have. What a great value, too! I highly recommend this product and will continue to buy from this company in the future.

I had to contact Amazon about the product I received. I have been using ginger for a very long time, so I'm very accustomed to the taste and smell of ginger. I purchased Simply Organic Ginger powder both here and from other grocery/health food stores. Simply organic brand size is quite small, and I run out quickly so I decided to try this brand due to its economical size. I opened it and was surprised by the unusual fragrance; however, eager to ensure my sense of smell wasn't tricking me, I made a cup of hot ginger tea and took a sip. Yikes, I had to rush to the bathroom to spit it out in sink, as chemical -like taste was so overpowering. It had no scent of ginger and absolutely no taste of ginger. Iimmediately brushed my teeth, gargled with oral rinse and contacted Amazon to complain. I spent the night constantly clearing my throat even in my sleep, as I woke up coughing uncontrollably desperate to totally eliminate the strange taste from my taste buds. It was just a terrible experience for me.Because of this disastrous experience I don't know if I'll ever try a different brand of ginger powder again; I'm currently subscribed to Simply Organic and will stick to it until I can find another larger container of genuine ginger powder, that taste and smell like ginger, without the taste of chemicals. It must be carefully noted that I'm not a spoke person for Simply Organic; I'm just a satisfied customer who enjoys using the product. It is potent, smells and tastes like ginger and I never had an issue with product. My complaint was reasonably addressed, and satisfactorily resolved by Amazon.
