Good morning, Yes they are. That is the great thing about vinyl.

Q: Are these clear/transparent, so the pillow design will show through?

I would say they are more opaque than clear. You can see somewhat of a pattern through them, but not very clearly. Kind of like the difference between a clear shower curtain and an opaque shower curtain. The pillow design will probably not show through very clearly. Does this help?

I've washed mine twice and air dry. In between washes and pillow case changes used disinfectant stray to wipe down. They were a bit wrinkly but still zips and fits my pillows. My opinion is to only wash every other month and whip down every case change.
