I do crafts and these are perfect for doing a nice display of an item. They are really well made for the price and I can get these and not up charge so much. Will be purchasing more

It doesn’t seem to be wood, at least not the veneer on the top layer. I think it’s covered in gray paint or other plastic solution. However it is still nice and i was able to frame a piece quite perfectly.

These shadow boxes were great but too small for the project I needed them for. They were great quality and I would recommend them to anyone!

Just what I needed
I wanted to make shadow box memorials for my 2 dogs and cat that have passed away. These arrived quickly and appear to have a solid construction. Easy to work with. As other reviewers have mentioned, not very deep-probably about 1/2 inch. I’m happy with how they turned out.

This was exactly what I needed for an art project. Do be aware that the back only has a hook for hanging and cannot stand on own.
