Please remember to plug the power cable in first before using the board. This is really for GPUs mining.

Good solution for using blocked x1 port
I had two x1 slots covered by graphics cards and bought a x2 10 sata port card that wouldn't fit directly anyways. This allowed me to utilize the x1 slot and run the USB cord up to the top bay and connect the x2 to this x16 extender allowing me to use my x1 port. The extender does run a little hot and the slot is slightly loose.

With a little ingenuity, this is a great solution if you have a sound card and want to get it out your case. Thanks miners!
No latency! No noise! The ZXR sounds just like it's plugged directly into the board! Sits within arms reach on my desk, unlike before when it was in the PC on the floor (The ZXR's Microphone dial extender thingy adds loads of noise and colors/muffles the sound, so I NEVER use it.) No more bending down under my desk when I unplug my cans!My hardwareFractal Define Design Mini (4 expansion slots for cards, 1 more for the included fan controller, holes for external water cooling)ASUS MAXIMUS VI GENE LGA 1150 Micro ATX mobo (2x PCI-E 3.0 [graphics card(s) go here], 1x PCI Express x4 [sound card goes here])SeaSonic M12II 650 SS-650AM 650W Modular power supplyCreative SoundBlaster ZXR (PCI Express x1)GTX Titan BlackNoctua NH-D14Sennheiser HD 595 cansI do a lot of rendering in Blender, so I was considering adding a second graphics card. Before I found this product, I had to make a lot of potential compromises in terms of up upgrades:A. Replace ZXR with a usb AMP+DAC with less features, should I decide to SLI. Have to sell SC I got on an awesome deal.B. Replace huge, case filling Noctua cooler with something worse to free up the 5th semi-blocked expansion slot. Use an extender: (http://www.amazon.com/Tenext-Quality-PCI-E-Extender-Ribbon/dp/B0067WZH2Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1424487915&sr=8-1&keywords=pcie+extender) for one half of the ZXR. Lose second half of the ZXR, and the fan controller.C. Get a Mid tower. Migrate entire build. Loads of work, loads of money, and loads of parts to sell.D. Use Motherboard Sound. Ew.Instead, I bought this item on a whim because it was really cheap compared to something similar I saw on Newegg while browsing. Who new this craze had other applications!Potential Caveats/Things you should know:A. Finding a way outside of your case that doesn't require leaving the expansion slots or external drive slots open and subject to dust exposure, OR soldering/breaking/cutting open your case is really hard. I'm lucky my case has openings for external water cooling. See here: http://www.hardwareheaven.com/reviewimages/fractal-define-mini-ecs-hdci-fusion-htpc/fractal-design-define-mini_rear.jpgB. This item REQUIRES power from your power supply (or whatever else, if you are a DIY soldiering person/electrician) to function! It's not powered by the usb 3.0 connection. Hope you have the extra connections+cables available. I had to use my last peripheral/IDE/SATA connection on my PSU solely for my SC card due to limited cable options on hand (size, length, cable type, connector compatibility, connector length)B. I had to use a peripheral cable (psu side) + the only 4 pin floppy disk drive power supply cable (card side) that came with my PSU to power the the board. You can use this item's included 4 pin floppy power cable, but I elected not to because its not braided & glued like my psu variant. Gotta mind that potential extra strain. These: http://i.minus.com/iF0F5AxK8uO87.jpgOriginal Image: http://www.pcekspert.com/jpg/articles/seasonic_850_thermaltake_1275/seasonic_m12_750_6b.jpgThough other options are possible, this was the only solution that was on hand, long enough (~1 meter), and could fit outside one of the tiny water cooling holes (with the rubber valve part removed! Don't worry, they go back in). Most of the other cables were disqualified because the plastic connectors were too big.I'm so glad this worked. I'm so happy with my new setup, wish I had done this sooner!

I like that they have sheet foam on the bottom
Purchased two to use for GPU mining, both work perfectly. I like that they have sheet foam on the bottom, one less short circuit to worry about. :)
