PCIe Express Riser x1 to x16 Powered Extender for Litecoin/Bitcoin Mining

This review is for a PCIe Express Riser x1 to x16 Powered Extender for Litecoin/Bitcoin Mining. I got 2 of these USB risers recently. This was the cheapest available USB3.0 riser and had Amazon prime as well. Unfortunately, when using one of them, my 7870 was fried and had to send it back for a replacement. The only reason I am not giving 1-star is that the other one is working just fine so I am not quite sure at the moment what caused the failure of my video card. I have a guess though... The main reason for quality problem and my guess for the failure of my video card is that the 1x base of the riser does not attach to the motherboard firmly. It is always loose and very sensitive to the movement. It just pops out from its base if you slightly move the cable.In general, the quality of the product is passable. The USB3.0 cable is about 1-foot. I guess that is the reason it is cheaper from other ones.On a plus side, it seems that its providing enough power by using the SATA extension cable. I will replace the faulty riser and order a new one and see what happens.

Everything on this works great and I love that you can easily just swap out for an even longer USB 3.0 male-to-male connector to have it extended even further. The only reason why I knocked off 1 start for this product is for 2 reasons.1) The PCB is fairly flimsy, at least from the little force that I've used to try pulling off the card. As I was pulling the card off of the riser, it ended up bending the PCB just slightly so it wasn't completely straight. I did try bending it back into shape, and it still does function the way it's supposed to, but again, I used just standard force while pulling the card off and it managed to bend. Now I am extra cautious and very gentle while moving and swapping cards out of it.2) The price. This is about double the price of other USB 3.0 PCIe risers. This one only comes with a 12" cable, unlike the option of 24" or 100cm cable like other risers have. The design on this is different and minimal and also uses a SATA power connector instead of a molex, but I don't think all of that causes the price to shoot up 2 times as much. This isn't a knock on the product, more so a knock on the seller. I think the seller is really price gouging on here since they seem to be the only one selling on Amazon.

Bad product. Ordered 3 units. First package opened has melted plastic in the usb port, tried to remove it and the whole head came off the cable. Second package looked ok, plugged it into mining rig and within 3-5 seconds it started smoking black smoke. Quickly shutoff rig and pulled it apart to see scorch marks in the usb ports. Not even going to attempt the third. No reason to damage my expensive equipment with these cheap attempts at pci-e risers.

Purchased these because I've heard mixed/negative reviews on the cheaper cable variants. I was worried about buying these because they're exposed and not made by a "known" company.I purchased 4 of them and they are all fantastic. Surprisingly great build quality. I honestly thought they were going to be flimsy and "cheap". All of them worked with no issue.Would highly recommend these, especially if you're looking at the cheaper cable versions. Don't take the risk on your expensive video cards and motherboards. Spend the extra $10-15 and do it right the first time!

Not only does the device fit rather loosely in the PCIe slot, but my system would not recognize the card attached to this riser cable regardless of which slot I tried it in. I'm glad it worked for some people but it was a bust for me.

I'm am extremely impressed with these. I was fairly skeptical but after attaching 6 of these to my rig with Nvidia's 750Ti cards, the temp on the GPUs dropped as advertise, almost 10°C.The only con I have with theses are I wish the USB 3.0 cables were just a little bit longer! All in all my experience with the seller was impressive, I paid the extra for DHL shipping and the products arrive perfectly intact all the way from the other side of the world in 3 days!

I've tried 3 other brands. The ribbon styles wear out very quickly. Other USB risers have large circuit boards which can be a problem if your video cards are close together. These ones are smaller.Shipping was very quick. Highly recommended.

Got all 6 risers and first I only tested one.Now I rebuild my rigg an have all 6 working perfect in 1x slots.Windows 7 and 8 found all the cards no problems...
