Tempted to rate 2 stars,
I'll give it 3 because it does say for absolute beginners. This book seems more like it is designed to help somebody setup an arduino if they never have. Silly me, I'm trying to learn more, like integrating a Real Time Clock with a 3231 SD card reader module to log the operation of my hydroponic nutrient control project. Running peristaltic pumps, dht11 sensor, and maybe even OLED display. And if all that goes well, adding an esp01 to integrate wifi... Needless to say, this book helped me in no way what-so-ever, and taught me literally nothing. Infact the 30 min I spent reading it could have probably been explored much more in depth through a 30 min video (of which there are countless on YouTube). I'll even say that it came up pretty short here, pretty much just a guide for initial setup and a little information on how it works, mostly telling you what some cool projects would be (without any kind of explanation of how to make such a project) and telling you to go somewhere else to learn critical information, or you will suffer. It is all very true, but for a 2020 version I was expecting to see something that wasn't already published 3 yrs ago. And while it explains that there are differences in the models of arduino board and briefly what some of those differences are, it certainly didn't help me realize if I should be upgrading from my uno for my project....Honestly I think the book is pointless if you have access to Google and youtube... But I will end with saying this kind book could be useful to a young person when gifted along side an arduino uno starter kit. If this book were abridged, it would probably be titled, "How to Connect an Arduino to Your Computer" which half the YouTube videos cover in the intro, saying something like... Before we can do this project you'll need Arduino IDE if you don't already have it, which can be found here... Select your OS.... Install..." and so on. Sorry Nick Sadler. Maybe I would have liked the book more if I was new to this, but i think it only restate information that I can't even get away from already.

This might not contain what you need .
I givs some examples of how to program and web sites to help with programming but no diagrams or pin out's that can be used for projects other than making an L.E.D. blink

Well
Organized well but didn't go as deep as I thought it would. The two titles repeat a lot of information. Decent basic guide with anyone with a bit of programming background.

Bad.
I bought this one right before bed - looked at the price, stars, and hit "purchase" without scrolling down to read the reviews. I wish I had, because even at $3 and change I feel like I overpaid. It's not very well written; I'm not expecting Shakespeare from a tech book, but certain sections repeated themselves and there was some funny grammar here and there. It gives a little bit of an introduction and overview of the Arduino platform, but nothing you couldn't glean from reading an article or two online; to be honest if you know enough to be interested in Arduino, you likely know much of the book's content. The projects it mentions are described in no great detail, and little is done to introduce coding concepts like functions, etc.Initially I felt bad giving such a bad review to anyone who put themselves out there to write a book, but reading other reviews and thinking about it this seems like a fairly cynical cash grab rather than an undercooked labour of love. The fact it has so many stars probably indicates the author is gaming Amazon's rating system with bots, Mechanical Turk jobs, or whatever.Avoid.

So far doesn't work
I purchased an Arduino kit and it arrived without a word of instruction.I purchased this book thinking it would enable me to get my Arduino up and running , it did not. The instructions for the initial start up are just too skimpy. I have ordered a different book in hopes that It will get me going.

Typos and missing code examples make this a difficult read.
For most of this book, the text is pretty well written, (although code examples referred to are nowhere to be found. ) The last chapters are full of typos and syntax errors make it read like a poorly translated document.

Nowhere near everything you need
It's too superficial and low in content. I found little of value in this book and cannot recommend it. Others might differ but for me it was a waste of time to read.

Waste of money
In the picture it appears the book is around 150-200 pages. In actuality it is 81 pages. Most books use 12 point font this one uses 24 point to take up more space. There are a number of photos that have no bearing on the subject and quite a few pages are 1/2 to 2/3 full. So you are actually getting about 30 pages of material. Everything in the book you can get off of 2-3 YouTube videos and with a more clear explanation. The sub title of "Everything you need to know about Arduino" is a complete exaggeration. What it should read is "Everything you need to know about plugging in your Arduino and 4 of the most basic projects." Make:Getting Started with Arduino:. is a much better book and is around a $1.00 less.

Avoid
This book is poor value for money with insufficient information for an absolute beginner. It concludes by suggesting automating a lawnmower and covers the mechanics of doing so but doesn't mention the Arduino's part. There were several spelling mistakes, some of them in the few programming code examples.Although it contains 82 pages, the type size is so large that the book's thickness is probably twice what it should be.I cannot recommend this book

Waste of time and money
Not useful at all doe cover the real basics as in a 5 minutes you tube. Font size is massive obviously to increase page count. Although new to Arduino this taught me nothing additional from the readily available lesson and guide on you tube. Avoid.

Too basic to be of any use to all but the most ignorant
Little more than a reprint of the manual that comes with the arduino board. In huge type that could be read from 10 metres, probably to fill more than the three pages it should take up.Seriously, spend money elsewhere, there is far more useful information on the net.It claims to be aimed at those with no knowledge of arduino, after reading this. you will still have no knowledge. An absolute waste of a very healthy tree!

Don't bother, it's not worth the money.
Not really that much information..expensive considering the same information is available in the internet.

All but useless
The book is full of typos, grammatical errors and just random sentences. The projects are little more than suggestions of things one could do if one knew how.I suspect that even the author has not proof read this book.It is no wonder that the contents can't be previewed.
