The cats were intrigued, and continue to enjoy it
Honestly, I think that my sisters and mother laughed the hardest and enjoyed this item the most. However, we brought it to the cats to explore. At first, they seemed a bit surprised by it, and then were intrigued. The best thing is that our "scaredy cat" who never approaches anyone, without a lot of coaxing, that cat LOVED the fish and playing with it. The more "human" oriented cat like the fish, but her sister, the "scaredy cat" is the one who always LOVES to see this crazy floppy fish when it comes out.So, I'm not exactly sure what to say. I suspect that most cats would LOVE this toy. However, for us, the cat, which has been the most difficult one to deal with, seems to LOVE this toy. It might be a good way to help her to interact more with us (or, at least, to get closer to us, when she is playing with the fish). The one thing that I'm not exactly certain of is the "catnip" bag which is sent with the fish. Should that be put "into" the fish? If so, some of the catnip can get trapped into the USB plug. Or, maybe the catnip is supposed to be "rubbed" on the fish. There just didn't seem to be any instructions about that (or, if there are, I didn't see them).Overall, I would recommend getting this cat toy.

Loud and cat is terrified of it
Bought this for my cat because he loves big toys that he can grab and kick. Charging it was quick and easy. There’s a little zipper on the bottom and you can take the little mechanical piece out of its pouch to charge. It comes with a cord to charge. It also came with a little bag of catnip to put into the toy’s pouch, which was a nice touch! I included a picture of the fish, the mechanical piece inside, and a clothespin for scale (sorry, I didn’t have a banana!)When I first charged it and turned it on, it made a mechanical sound, but it wasn’t too loud. My cat was interested in it, but was a little scared to go too close at first. Then it started making this awful grinding sound when it moved. This put my cat off of it and he won’t go near it. Now it makes the grinding sound intermittently. But it’s VERY loud.I took the motor out and put the catnip in the pouch to see if he would at least play with the fish part without the mechanics. He’s still too scared of it. He’s a scaredy cat though. I think if I put it in the closet for a month, he’ll forget and at least play with the motor-less fish. It seems really well made, and the pouch inside will be great for catnip!

Cat LOVED it...but the fish didn't last very long
Our cat absolutely loved this toy. However after only a few months the tail stopped shaking, though the motor was still running. I took out the motor and saw that the tail part seemed to have been disconnected internally somehow from the rest of the motor, so I took it apart to fix it. After that the tail part was moving as expected, but once I put it back inside the fish it was like the motor was too weak to push against outside fish material and it wouldn't shake. I even put it for charging for a whole day but that didn't fix it either. I'm writing this review a whole year after purchasing but the toy has been useless for at least 8-9 months so it really did break quite fast. Unfortunate as you'd expect a cat toy that is meant to be chewed on and kicked around would be built to be more durable, but in this case I guess not.

Charging port is terrible, never stays charging
Right off the bat it is VERY difficult to keep this thing charging. The charging input port inside the fish is poorly placed, so that in order to get the fish charging you have to continually move around the charger inside the port until the light finally comes on to indicate it's charging... and then it will only stay on for less than thirty seconds before the light turns off and you need to readjust the charger. I have had this for not even two days and it is already a pain. What's worse is that the battery dies SO QUICKLY. So you WILL be fiddling with the charger at least once or twice a day, if your cat plays with it at all. Very disappointing because my cat really loves it, but it's now become IMMEDIATELY obvious that the product is poorly made and probably won't last long at all.

My cat loved this!
My cat is an indoor cat and doesn't get any exercise like he would if he was outside. I've purchased several toys and he ignored them after a day or two. Not the case with the flopping fish. When I first received it, I just sprinkled some catnip inside the 'belly' pouch. That's not the best way to do it. I found catnip all over the hardwood floors. Next, I tried putting the catnip into a small, zip-locked parts bag. I poked several holes with a straight pin, and placed it inside the Velcro pouch in the belly. That works much better. My cat has broken the tail and it no longer flops, but that doesn't seem to matter as long as the catnip is fresh. He is a 19 pound monster, large all the way around, not just fat. He pounces onto the fish and holds it with his front legs and tries to shred it with his back legs. It's held up to his many assaults. No tears or holes from his claws and teeth. It will still motion activate and I can hear the noise, the tail just no longer flops. I think I'll order another so he will have two to play with. It gives him more exercise than any of the other toys I've bought. No coaxing needed. Just recharge every couple of weeks and replace the catnip after a month or so.

I was disappointed
The fish looks great. It is well made. It came with a tablespoon of catnip. My disappointment is that the fish when on for motion, it flipped like crazy. It moved so fast and hard that it terrified my cat. He is 8 months old and was afraid of this fish that is going all around the living room all by itself. Plus it got really hot, too hot to the touch! We actually were afraid it my catch on fire. I just took the motor out and put in the catnip but I think it too thick and he can't even smell the catnip. Probably should have sent it back but was hoping he might start playing with it. Disappointed.

Cat disdain
My cats could not give less of a damn. They both watched it flop around for maybe 30 second and then walked away. Cats wouldn't touch them, like didn't even paw at them the slightest bit. They stayed in exactly the same spot for 2 days. Gave them to a coworker to see if their cats liked them.

Not suitable for my dog
Great toy for most cats and non chewing dogs. My chihuahua loves it but is a chewer and must be supervised so he doesn’t chew the battery inside.
