MY CATS PREFERRED THE AMAZON BOX
I literally wrote the best Amazon review I've ever written (trust me, it was hilarious AND informative... I was so proud of myself for this review!), and then my cat stepped on the keyboard and deleted it JUST. LIKE. THAT.Typical.Anyway, the toys work well -- they move in a flip-floppy way and they hold a charge for a while. I like that they're USB rechargeable and they're pretty cute and a good size.I wish my cats liked them but they're both terrified of them. The picture was taken before we turned them on, before they were even charged up... when the cats thought that they were just plush fish they were cool with them but once they saw them moving, that was it. They both bolted out of the room and haven't gotten near the things ever since. The one time that they did and the fish turned on, I saw my cat get MAJOR air (I swear he jumped like 2-3 feet straight up in the air before bolting up the stairs) and that was the last time he got even remotely close to the toy.I've triggered the fish a few times accidentally in the middle of the night while shuffling through the dark living room, and I'll admit, they've scared the living daylights out of me too -- they can be quite alarming when you don't expect them to go off. But, unlike my cats, I got over my initial shock of turning the fish on and didn't develop a full-on phobia. Apparently my cats are both scaredy cats and just cannot deal with electronic toys. They 100% preferred the Amazon box to the toys. That's not the fault of the toys, though -- that's just my weird cats.I lent these fish to my sister to see how her cats responded to them and shockingly her "brave" cat was also terrified of the fish, but her semi-feral, EXTREMELY shy cat loved them. He would apparently bop them and then hold his paw over their bodies as they flipped and flopped and struggled underneath his paw, and then once they stopped he'd bop them and start the whole thing over again. Kind of sounds psychotic to me, but hey, if he's having fun watching these pretend fish struggle under his wannabe murderous little paw, then it's all good, right? All in all, if I knew how my cats responded to these toys, obviously I wouldn't have wasted the money on them... I guess my guys are just more old-fashioned cardboard box and shoelace kind of cats. No matter how many fun toys I buy them, they really couldn't care less and almost always prefer the packaging to the actual toy. Maybe someday I'll find something that catches their attention and doesn't give them crazy anxiety (like these little fish did) but until then I'll keep trying and they'll keep enjoying the Amazon boxes that the toys come in.

So far, cats aren't really impressed
Bought it yesterday, got it today. Fully charged it, and put both of them out on the floor. The cats looked at the orange one, but weren't really all that interested in it. There's a single zippered compartment, where the small electrical part is. There wasn't anywhere to put the catnip, so I put some (carefully) around the side of the box. It was a little awkward, because I wanted to make sure I didn't put any catnip in the small plug hole in the box. After all that, zippered everything back up (only put catnip in one fish), and turned it on. Set it on the box, called the cats. Nobody was that impressed. Nudged the fish, it took a bit of pressure to get any response. I thought it would be more responsive, since cats generally use a light touch to investigate things. They were mildly interested in the catnip, before it was put into the fish. But, when I put the fish down, they sniffed it, and left it alone. They've managed to activate it twice since I turned it on.I'm giving it a week. If the cats aren't indicating that they want to play with it by then, I'm going to look into returning it. So far, not worth the money spent. It does feel nice, but the fact that there's no separate pouch for the catnip? I think it should, so that you don't damage the charging port (which is a round peg port, not a standard usb port, like the picture implies). I'm also not impressed with how much pressure it took to get it to respond and start flopping around. I don't think my cats are really going to put that much pressure on it, so it might not move very often.I'm really hoping that the cats start using this. I was really looking forward to watching at least one of them enjoying it. So far, it's a serious dud, and one that I don't want to spend the money on. I know there's other toys, ones that I think my cats would enjoy more than they are enjoying this. But I'll see if things improve. I'll update with my final decision, at the end of the week.Edited to add: Well, I have set up a return. The cats haven't even looked at the fish, they end up flopping because we brush up against them instead. Not worth keeping, since we know that there's zero interest. I'm returning them, and getting something else instead. I'm hoping that this is a one off thing, although I'm sorely disappointed. I was really thinking that one of the cats would be thrilled with this, and yet he's less than thrilled.

Decent product but not the best.
Our cats are hunters, panthers in the dark, killers of all that roam the night...at least that's what they want to believe. These fish were the perfect distraction for our little murder fur balls. They still hunt all the bugs in the house but with these fish they've stopped hunting the bugs that clink to the ceiling and in turn has kept all our high breakables safe from their collateral damage.I kind of wish there were an easier way to turn them on, off and an easy way to charge them. They are rechargeable which is nice but I've had a bit of trouble unzipping them in order to get to the controls and charging port.If I ever decide to purchase something similar to this in the future, which seems very likely, I'd like to find one with a remote or just some easier way to control it. I know I'm asking too much on this front but would also like to see wireless charging.I do recommend this to any cat lover out there, just know that there's a small amount of inconvenience. Not a lot so don't let that be a deciding factor. Plus I see these as a good starting point to make sure your animal will like them so to maybe get a better quality product.

good but need recharging constantly
My cat loves these fish but I wish they lasted a bit longer before needing a recharge

Fun for cats
I really needed an engaging toy for my 2 year old kitty, and decided I better get one for my older guy as well. Younger kitty likes his fish whether it is on or off! Older one loves it turned on. This is a very engaging toy, great value for the 2 fish. They are easy to charge and the charge is long lasting. I haven't used the catnip pouch yet because my guys are happy enough without but it's a nice feature. The only reason why I gave a slightly lower overall score is that when turned on, it is pretty noisy which actually startles my younger cat quite a bit and it not ideal when they play in the night when I forget to shut the fish off! Overall, highly recommend!

Good size and colouring. Flaps around nicely.
I bought these for my ragdoll cats. They are all 4 years old so still really playful. I couldn’t wait for these fish to get here but two of the cats show no interest at all and the third cat shows just very little interest. I really thought they would all love them. Maybe it’s just my cats. I put them on the carpet too as I thought it was too noisy on the laminate. I will give one of the fish to my daughter to try with her cat and if he likes it I will give an update. I’ll try some new catnip as well. I do like that it can be charged as apposed to using batteries.

A fun idea but does not work for my cats
They look cute and it seems like a good idea. My cats take no interest in the fish whatsoever. I stuffed in tons of cat nip, but failed to create any interest. I made them flip and flop. My cats just looked at the fish for two seconds and walked away. My husband and I seem to be more interested in the fish than the cats. But it for human entertainment - maybe…if you enjoy seeing the fish flopping around.

Fish are ok
Fish do not look as real as photos ,but that being said they are ok. I did not receive any catnip as advertised so that was a bummer.Update: OK upon closer inspection the catnip was up inside the fish and is not provided separately. Only draw back now is these pair of fish are on sale for 11 bucks off. Anyway it is what it is.
