Functional, and looks cool too!
These do a fine job of unobtrusively protecting the bottom of the mag, while also providing an extra grip surface. They feel like they'll stand up to more abuse (like being dropped on a hard surface) than even the mag itself, and they look pretty neat also!

Good replacement
These are a good replacement for bottom metal plates on aluminum or steel GI style mags. They do add a little bit of thickness so take that into consideration when shooting prone. Otherwise they offer a good gripping point to pull from mag pouch while also making some protection for the mag when press mag release and it falls out hitting the cement or something. I'm sure it's really more of a solution that was almost never really a problem, but it's still a nice upgrade for cosmetics, function, and to make a magazine marker so if you want to make 3 magazines a special type of bullet you will know.

Every USGI Mag should have one
Easy to install and works great. Add a this and a Magpul anti tilt follower and a beat up USGI battlefield pickup becomes a modern magazine. A must have for the shooters behind enemy lines that need to use old pre ban mags.

Not what I ordered.
I guess I'm not going to complain, but instead of the above pictured product, I was shipped the ranger plates instead. They fit, and work well, but it's not what I was looking for.

There is nothing to dislike about magpul products. Their fit and finish is always perfect... If a problem as ever experienced with their product, customer service takes care of it immediately. You cannot go wrong with purchasing a magpul product!

The name says it all. These floorplates work exceptionally well with the longer magazines, like the 40 plus round mags,especially if you plan to carry them in your vest or rifle case. Since the mags are longer, typical pulls aren't necessary.But, these still provide the rubber cushion for hitting the floor. I did have to file on the hard plastic lock/sub floorplate,though I was prepared for that since it said it was for 30rd. mil-spec mags. and thats not what I was using them for. But thefloorplate itself fits just like it should. Another hit from Magpul.
