Affordable EDC.
The hype about these pens is very real. It writes as well as pens I paid twice as much for, and it’s got a heavy, sturdy feel. The brass body is perfect for tossing in a bag and taking on the go, but because of the lacquered [?] finish and plastic grip section, you don’t get the brassy smell left on your fingers after you write with it. You’re more than getting your money’s worth with this guy; the next cheapest widely-available brass fountain pen in the US will run you roughly $60. Seriously, I’m likely going to grab this in multiple different colors. It’s worth it.

One of the Best Writing Fountain Pens. Period.
Every time I write with it, I think the (m) nib feels smooth and springy with a consistent western fine line, not unlike a finely tuned gold nib but obviously at a fraction of the price. It surprises me every time that I'm a little disappointed in the next - often more expensive pen - I pick up after I use this one. The metropolitan is a classic for a reason, and pilot really knows what they're doing with their nibs.

Excellent writing, large capacity secure cartridge, posting unreliable, warm hand issue
Pilot has the best of many things in a fountain pen here. The cartridge is eyedropper refillable (once you remove the disc with forceps or a crochet hook), seats thoroughly and securely, and is larger than international cartridge standards. The feed has excellent ink flow but is not too wet at first; the heat of your hand on this aluminum pen will cause it to be increasingly wet, and it may blob out a drop of ink onto your document if you hold it a long time! I've subtracted a star for this. I may try drilling a small hole in the body wall of this pen to avoid heat-induced pressure. The nib is smooth, if a bit stiff; the medium is closer to a broad in my opinion. The cap seals the nib in securely so that it does not dry out; you can open this pen after days and days of no use and it writes immediately. I have expensive pens that dry out with each use! When the cap is posted, it loosens and falls off while writing; this is a pen that needs you to set the cap aside while using it. While annoying, it was not worth subtracting a star for me. The price is a real bargain for a durable metal pen. I'm trying a Prera to see if it has better posting and hand-heat performance.

I've only tried it the one time but it seems to be excellent and I like it and the feel of it in my hand.
Make sure you've got a tissue or piece of paper under this thing after you put in your ink cartridge and squeeze then shake it a bit up and down and a blob of ink should fall then wipe it down and write or draw. It writes much nicer and smoother than my throwaway varsity pen. It feels solid and looks nice, now I just got to use the darn thing. I think I will make an effort to reach for it in the future and it comes with a squeezy inky thing so you can use bottled ink. Case is cheap but looks nice. I recommend this to anyone looking for an affordable nice fountain pen.

Great fountain pens
There was a minor issue due to packaging, other than that pen is great! Such smooth writing with no feedback, the weight is perfect, and I would definitely recommend for newbies or those that don't want to use their more expensive fountain pens (I heavily collect no longer made models of well known fountain pen brands so why I don't want to use them due to their value and rarity), but still desire a smooth writing experience- get these! The nibs are more in the finer side than European style ones which again works for me being left handed when factoring some inks. The look is very modern and yet eye catchy, which I love.

Nice pen! Very Happy.
Nice pen, it flows great so far. Always ready when I am. I have only used it with the cartridge so far, so we’ll see how it goes if I decide to use the converter with bottled ink. I use this for drawing more often than writing.

Very good.
I bought this animal collection fountain pen in gold, I also bought the Metropolitan in silver. They are both the same, this one has an animal print design in the middle. It comes with a converter so I was able to use bottled blue ink. Works great so far. It's my first fountain pen so I can't compare it to others.
