Ossur - A Miracle Machine
The Ossur Cold Rush Therapy Machine arrived not only intact but timely. My wife had a full knee replacement and was in need of cold therapy to reduce swelling. Unfortunately, the cold ice box (Breg Polar Box) we had stopped working. It was superb machine for when I had a full knee replacement two years ago. With my experience I learned that pain comes from swelling; no swelling = no pain. Sadly, my wife was in painful despair. I wanted to order another Breg, but the price was just too high. Some retailers had it for over $200. Breg is an excellent machine but just too pricey for us. So, I started my Amazon research. As anyone who has had painful surgery recovery, you know you want the best medical devices that are affordable. I did not want a cheap imitation from some offshore eastern company. My research led me to Ossur. I went to their site. I found the Ossur is Swedish, and it manufactures prosthetics and orthopedics, including cold therapy. I decided on the Cold Rush Compact for about $150. The machine arrived on April 2, as scheduled. The machine has proven to be a lifesaver. From excruciation pain to virtually no pain with this machine. I can't thank the seller enough for the timely delivery. The machine has a quality feel with no cheap plastic smell. It is quiet and does the job. Thank you Amazon, seller, and Ossur. The Breg box only lasted through my rehab, about two months (but it was on 12-14 hrs a day). I believe the Ossur will do just as well, if not better. Two tips:1) I Use 4 small frozen water bottles as ice and fill with water just above the water line.2) I use a long bandage to wrap around the pad to keep the cold therapy air from escaping.I can't thank seller enough for a timely delivery.

This product sucks. A huge waste of money.
Well, when you get it and unpack it, you would estimate this as a quality product. And then you use it and it works pretty well. No real complaints through 1 knee surgery. But then you put the device in a closet where it is protected from the elements until your next knee surgery. And you pull it out and plug it in and it's just dead. You test the adapter and confirm that it's working as it should-outputting a steady 12V DC.That's when you realize the product is crap.Thinking a manufacturer wouldn't turn out a product that can't last past 100 or so working hours, you call the manufacturer. And they tell you 'sorry, we don't sell parts'. And they say something so puzzling: "...this is for a second surgery? Well that's probably the problem-these aren't meant for 2 surgeries", and you shake your head and hang up the phone realizing that big companies don't care that you invested north of $100 on a device to make your quality of life a little better for a week or two of your life after you have a bodypart replaced.Don't buy this if you aren't intending on throwing it in the garbage when you're done.UPDATE: The manufacturer refused to stand behind their product, and won't sell the parts necessary to repair it. I disassembled it and the pump motor had become jammed (probably poor lubrication leading to oxidation while stored). Un-jamming it allowed it to work again, but I found that some of the low-quality parts used to assemble this product had somehow weathered and cracked.Folks, this product is pure trash. 18 months and a week or two of use in that time and it's just pure junk.

Knee replacement
This worked great for icing my knee after replacement. Mine did NOT leak. Place it on a cookie sheet because of the drips when you unhook it!! I did use an elastic bandage instead of the 2 velcro straps that came with.

Good value for the money, does what it needs to, but could use a few improvements.
I purchased this because it was in the appropriate price range for us and I got it for a shoulder surgery. This is my second rotator cuff surgery so I'm not new to this rodeo. I knew this time I was going to need my own ice machine I did a significant amount of research to find one in my price range that would do what I needed. That being said, I have used this multiple times and I am on day 20 of recovery. It works well to provide pain relief, please pay attention to that aspect as that's the most important. What it is missing is the ability to apply compression and helpful sort of way. The professional models are rigged in a way when they are on top of you that allows them to give whole arm and shoulder compression. Unfortunately the machine itself works well but the shoulder pad itself does not really provide a lot of compression. It's also very difficult for one person to put on, but let's be honest there's no way around that no matter which machine you have so I don't think that that's a very fair assessment for people to give these machines. Using these machines any of them, is it two person job. The fasteners that they give you to put on to keep the shoulder pad on you and the way that they have to go around your body don't really secure the shoulder pad in a way that's very helpful. I think with some adjustment of the shoulder pad design this would be one of the best ones on the market that you could purchase. And honestly for an additional $30 or $40 more maybe even $50 more, I would still consider buying this model as long as it's shoulder pad had better compression. It should be noted that the circulation in the shoulder pad also seems to be not so great about 3 in from the edge of the entire shoulder pad. That's a lot of surface area that doesn't get cold. That's an area for improvement for sure. I'm guessing because the shoulder pad itself is thin allowing it to be malleable and bendable, and by the time the cold water passes over your joints by the time it gets to the edge it is already warm and possibly circulating back. However the surface area could be vital depending on the type of surgery you get.Just trying to give a thorough review. But like I said for this price range it's going to be difficult to find anything that works much better.

I tecently had knee replacement surgery so I have to ice 4-5 times a day. This device made it so convenient.
