The Gift of Ramadan

So Glad to add this to our collection
As the first day of Ramadan 2019 comes to an end, I am so happy to have added this newest Ramadan storybook to my almost 5 year old daughter's library. I absolutely love the main character's lovely head of curls- love the diversity and making storybook characters relatable to my little one. The story itself is inspiring- so real - shares the little ones 'slip' plus her amazing successes and ability to turn a difficult situation into a 'glittering' one! Defn a lovely addition to any library! My only positive feedback is that although the artwork in the book is gorgeous, there are a couple of pages early on where the graphics are blurry and not quite sharp. I'm not sure if all the prints came out this way or not- but it doesn't detract from the overall lovely quality of the book. Keep up the awesome work, dear author & illustrator!

Short and sweet book with beautiful illustrations
The Gift of Ramadan is a short and sweet book with beautiful illustrations for children to understand Ramadan better. Sophia the main character wants to fast, but it gets hard for her, which is understandable and realistic for young children. So she figures out another way to enjoy Ramadan; by helping her grandma make Iftar for her family who are fasting. I like how the book showed this way to enjoy Ramadan for children. It’s something different but doable and still rewarding. I would recommend this book for children 5-8 years old.

The joyful story for kids
I love the gift of Ramadan as it is standing out from the other kids Ramadan books. It is very joyful and fun which also shows the hardness of fasting and the struggle that a regular human has while fasting. It does not feel like somebody is preaching but it shows the kid's natural perseverance, sadness and support to others. It is definitely the best Ramadan book for me and my 6 year old. She has been reading it for the last 2 years.

Great book to use in public schools!
I am a public school teacher and was looking for a book that would accurately teach children about the spirit of Ramadan and this story beautifully accomplished that. I ordered more copies to give to my colleagues. Thank you for writing a sweet and thoughtful story.

Go inside the heart of a beautiful sacred tradition
We now have more family-friendly titles to take us inside the experience of Muslim families. Rabiah York Lumbard's marvelous The Gift of Ramadan does that, and so much more. It takes us into the heart of a beautiful family, and inside the ritual of Ramadan that take us into the heart level. Here we go on a journey into Ramadan far beyond the realm of food, and focus instead on kindness, on togetherness, on sacrifice.... in other words, the way that the sages have always described the sacred month. Read it with your young child, whether Muslim or not. It will touch your heart.

A new favorite!
I’m so happy to have this in our family’s library! This is such a lovely story that shows not only the beauty of Ramadan but that there’s more than one path to success. It is relatable, authentic, and heartwarming. The illustrations are gorgeous and I am in LOVE with this beautiful multiracial family. Perfect for every Muslim home and for anyone who values diverse, representative books for their little ones.
