Don't pay attention to the cover, whats inside is over the top spectacular!
Unbelievable work of art, the dedication of work that went into this effort is incredible. Full page full color photos galore, massive inspiration, and an absolute stunning showcase of craftsmanship, workmanship, and incredible design inspired by Scandinavian color palettes, loved every single page. If you are interested in surface design, this book shows what is possible using knitted fabric as your canvas, to superimpose gorgeous color and pattern with texture into a dazzling show stopper garment. I could easily see the finished pieces going on display in art installations, and making their way onto runway shows with commissions from this incredible artist.

The marriage of two crafts
I picked up this book because I thought it was a genius idea to embroider on knitting. I often come across nice sweaters that feel nice but are just too bland. Well, this is the solution to that problem. A knitter myself, I can say that it takes a lot of patience, and yarn changing to incorporate designs into knitted wear. But by simply embroidering a plain garment, I can easily change the way it looks. And, if the weave isn’t too tight, if I get tired of the design I embroidered, I can change it. (I say this because tight weaves will retain some of the fibers previously embroidered. It’s not impossible but a pain.)The author is Britt-Marie Christoffersson, a Swedish designer who is part of the textile collective 10-Gruppen (Ten Swedish Designers). In this book, she doesn’t expect the reader to follow the designs to a T but she wants to give inspiration, for the reader to stretch their imagination. The book is full of wonderful photographs which remind me of pictures of Scandinavian children’s sweaters that are bright and colorful. She does give the basics on what yarn she uses and how to fasten it to existing garments plus several types of stitches. It’s a great book that applies one craft to another. Like I said – genius! I highly recommend it!

It Depends On Your Learning Style How Useful This Is To You
When I got this book, I was very excited. I wanted to learn to dress up my knitting, or even older knitted garments that might need repair.WHAT THIS BOOK ISThis book has a few reference pages for basic stitches in it. It also has TONS of beautiful photos of how the author uses those stitches to achieve many beautiful looks with yarn on top of yarn.WHAT THIS BOOK IS NOTThis book is not an in depth HOW TO book. It depends on your ingenuity to interpret the photos and try to emulate many of the stitches found in the books beautiful photos.WHO MIGHT LIKE THIS BOOK?If you are a visual learner who is very self motivated, this book will most likely be a thrill to you. It has gorgeous inspirational photos to spin off of and to help inspire new creative stitches too.WHO MIGHT NOT LIKE THIS BOOK?This book is NOT for those who really need a map to do crafts. If you really stick to instructions and just need to be walked through projects, you will probably not like this book much. It has a lot of beautiful photos in it which you might like, but as for how to do things yourself, it might not be enough for you.THE BOTTOM LINEA gorgeous book to look through, this has many photos. Although short on instructions, there is plenty in here for self motivated people to inspire crafts, and help find new ways to embellish knitted garments.MY RATINGFIVE STARS. This book inspires me. I do not find the photos intimidating for the most part. In fact, I am already trying to decode how to do what the author did and develop my own spin on it.

WOW!
I have no idea how others have rated this book, but I was stunned by it. Instead of wasting pages and pages on 12-20 embroidery designs, the author gave us the basic instructions in a simplified manner and then we got to see pages and pages of examples of embroidery on knitting. I very dedicated knitter or embroiderer would get a lot of inspirations and ideas out of this book. It is obvious that much labor went into making these samples. Some of the samples were complete sweater/tops that were covered with embroidery. You will not get instructions on making flowers or monograms, most of the designs are linear. The designs are full of color. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to explore a few other countries than the USA to see the style of embroidery that is being done in other countries. Usually of all the countries I have seen, is the USA seems to clamor for 'easy' techniques and projects. The author, Britt-Marie Christoffersson, here is working on a long term knitting project that she is several decades into at this point. When was the last time you heard of anyone planning on spending multiple decades working to learning as much as possible about a subject and then share it with the world? This is a first for me. Her knowledge base is awesome and she wrote this book, so that anyone willing to spend time trying this type of embroidery out, will need to be willing to also spend time in learning and using this technique.I am not a knitter, but I do embroidery and this book gives me ideas for things that I think would translate into fabric and embroidery floss. I appreciate the opportunity to receive this book for review. Thank you. It has earned its place in my reference library.

Pity
This book could easily be so much better. I had high hopes. It’s a good read but doesn’t show or tell you very well at all how to achieve her patterns shown. I’ve found better in other books and free on drops website with clear instructions too. It’s rather disappointing actually. I’ll keep it but it might just become an annual read through instead of inspiring and enabling md to create great things using the technique.

This book is just brilliant...highly recommended
This book is just brilliant. It is packed absolutely full with embroidery ideas for knits. I have been a knitter all my life and enjoy a little embroidery...if you are likeminded I cannot recommend this book enough. It will add so much to projects and it will definitely give me inspiration. I cannot wait to experiment on my hand and machine knits. I have been wanting a book like this for so long... thank you Britt-Marie 😀

Disappointing
This book sounded amazing, I like adding different details to anything I make so I thought this would be packed with wonderful ideas. Sadly, no, where the copy writer found "modern designs" has escaped me, it is just old fashioned.
