Mat MidwestAir 308243B Tech 36-Inch-by-100-Foot 1/2-Inch Mesh 19-Gauge Galvanized Hardware Cloth

I ordered this for our new chicken coop and run. It's a 10x17 hoop run and we needed a lot of hardware cloth to cover it. I want to make sure that my flock is going to be safe. This was really easy to work with. We bent it into an L shape so that we have a one-foot skirt around the bottom that we fastened in place with landscaping staples to prevent critters from digging under the fencing and into the chicken run. Once the grass starts growing through it, nothing is going to be able to pull it up. We molded it around corners, used it for the coop door, like a screen door and even secured the underside of the coop. We fastened it to wood framing with wood screws and washers. I don't think anything will be able to break in and get our chickens now. I feel a lot safer using this hardware cloth than If I were using poultry netting. I'm glad we ordered off Amazon. I could only find this in 10 foot rolls locally and it was much cheaper ordering online. I will definitely be ordering more of this because I plan to build a rabbit colony and would like to fence off my garden to keep out deer.

We built a chicken coop this year as we got 6 hens as baby chicks. This is the way to buy this stuff as you will go broke buying it in shorter rolls. The vendor I bought it from was Champion Values and they delivered the advertised product quickly.You need the 19 Gauge 1/2 inch hardware cloth to properly protect your chickens. Supposedly predators can chew through lighter gauge hardware cloth. (That's what I read on various websites that cater to backyard chicken farmers.)Our chickens have been very safe inside their run which is surrounding them with this product. We are confident leaving them alone during the day. Their chicken coop windows and vents are also protected with this hardware cloth.

this stuff works great but a lot thinner than I was expecting, I was use to the hardware cloth of the 60'sI did spray it black to stop reflection

Arrived quickly, 2 rolls each in a large (and HEAVY) box. The boxes were a bit beat up but the rolls of wire were fine. There was a plastic disk on each end so they couldn't get bent and the empty space was filled with a LONG sheet of heavy brown paper "wadded up" for cushioning.I have to assume that Mat Midwest Air is AKA Yard-Guard because that is how the rolls of wire are labeled. It is what I would expect from 1/2" hardware cloth. I had no issues with any welds and I've used one entire roll.Guess I'm lucky I ordered when I did, I paid ~$90 and month later they show as $104. Still, with the free shipping (the only way it COULD be affordable), I think getting it from Amazon is likely the best price. Plus, finding a 100' roll locally seems to be impossible.

Good buy with no tax and half the price home depot wanted . Shipping was the worst though with not even a box . Fed ex took care of it though and didn't let it get banged up.Would/will buy more for future needs**** Update OCT 5 2012->Still working great the roll I bought in march is still holding up very well with no rust or anything . I ordered 2 more of these for my very large garden and they came in boxes so I don't know why the first roll didn't . We have ground squirrels that like to attack the garden and this stuff worked great keeping them out. I did have to go two high (72") attached to a bunch of t-posts because 36 inches wasn't keeping the ground squirrels at bay for more then a week until they learned to jump it. I bent the top outward so when the ground squirrels try to climb it they hit the top and cant get over . Not everyone will need to go as high as I did if your trying to just keep out rabbits 36 inches should be all you need . The plants I know the ground squirrels don't like but the rabbits do I use one piece ( 36" ) .This is a great stress reducer because there was nothing worse then coming home and seeing squirrels running out of your garden with cheeks full of cherry tomatoes. It also makes me fell safe working in the garden knowing rattle snakes are not hiding in the carrots .Thank you Amazon !! Everyone who needs this get it. You won't find a better deal .

The reason we bought this product was because we have a problem on our farm with minks & wild & stray dogs! We had a "yard" for our chickens to free range in that was made out of several 10 x 10 x 6 chainlink Kennels, that we would move around our farm so that the chickens remained safe, but were also allowed to "free range". This did not work! The first 21 chickens spent 8 hours in the kennels they were all killed by a mink and stray dogs came back and pulled the chain link wire off the posts and damaged the kennels! As we researched minks we were disheartened to find out that most of them are "smarter than humans" it seems and they can get through a hole no bigger than an inch!! So we have since completely "wrapped" all of our "portable kennels" in Hardware Cloth! Not only can the minks not get to them, the stray dogs that we have gotten on camera cannot damage the chain link in an attempt to get in. Because the holes are so small 1/2 in by 1/2 inch the dogs cannot get their paws hooked in anything! They can run around and try but to no avail! The only downfall we have found in this product is we cannot find it in 72 inches high by 100 feet long, the highest is 36 inches or 48 inches, so we have to get 2 rolls of 36 inches and put one along the bottom half and overlap slightly and put the other one at the top half of the kennel, but this does still work great, just double the work when it comes to attaching it.

Perfect product and it turned out to be the perfect amount for the enclosed run we built onto our refurbished chicken coop. 3' x 100' worked out perfectly even with the 1 foot we buried around the perimeter. The shipping time was also pretty darn fast. I was able to buy this with free super saver shipping which made it an even greater buy. I would not hesitate to buy from this seller again.
