I ordered this to help cool my dogs off after long hikes on hot days. I love that it will form to fit their body. It really helped cool them down faster. I made sure the gel pack was cold, but not too cold, and I just sat with my large dog and placed the pack on the back of his neck and then his belly to cool him off. He just laid there and enjoyed the royal treatment he was receiving. I really like that the instructions are super detailed and very clear on how and what to do with this product. I also tried it with my little dog by wrapping it in a shirt and placing it in her bed. She laid right on it to cool off after our walk. This is an awesome thing to keep around the house if you have dogs who have a hard time cooling themselves down after strenuous activities! My fur babies are happy, so I’m happy!

This is a very good gel pack but besides the labeling I don't really see anything different between these and a regular gel pack. That's a good thing because it means that you can also use it for yourself should the need arise. I've been building a deck and I hit my small finger with a hammer. It hurt like heck & I thought I would lose the fingernail. I used this immediately & saved my nail. As for your pets it's perfect. One of my cats snuck out when it was 108°& didn't notice. When I noticed him out he was having a problem from the heat. I used this to cool him down and in a couple of minutes he was back to his old self. Had him checked by the vet who said that I did the right thing & could have saved his life. Sure am glad that I had this.

These Stifle therapy packs are designed for the stifle harness pouch by caldara. This is a vet quality therapeutic hot cold therapy pack that is built to last. If you are familiar with the device, you know it isn't easy to use but for a vet or vet tech who knows how to use the harness, the pouch fits that device perfectly. Have your vet show you the tricks to making this harness work for you, it's worth the effort. If you foster old or injured large dogs, this pouch is for larger animals and may be something to consider for not only injuries or stitches/post surgery but perhaps aches and pains of aging. This pouch can be used for humans and cats, I like to combine it with a wet cloth for wet and cold therapy. I have not used this product hot at the time of this review. This pack is much thicker and softer than other similar products I've used.

The CALDERA Pet Therapy Gel Pack for Stifle in size Large is a very nice gel ice pack for pets. I have a 14 yr old Australian Cattle Dog that had CCL surgery recently, and this ice pack is great for icing his knee. The gel pack molds around his leg nicely. You can also get the wrap/harness to hold the pack in place, but we don't have that. I usually wrap a thin towel around it to hold it in place while icing his leg. At this time, I have not yet tried the gel pack for heat, only as a cold pack. I just keep it in the freezer, and pull it out when needed. I have also used this as an ice pack on myself for targeting lower back pain and it works great for me too!

The fact that this gel pack can be used for either heat or cooling, makes it very versatile. It cools quickly in the freezer and keeps it's cool far longer than needed for general cooling therapy. The same can be said of the heat therapy portion of this product. It heats easily and retains the heat far longer than necessary for normal heat therapy. Made from a high quality material. I appreciate how easily the hot/cold pack conforms to the area needing treatment. I recommend this to all pet owners. From puppy mishaps to elderly pet aches and pains. This two in one gel pack is an essential part of any pets, 1st aid kit.

Its what I would expect most hot/cold packs to be like. It seems decently thick and like it will hold up to a lot of wear. So far it has made it through many freeze thaw cycles and still looks brand new. When frozen it is still easily folded and placed around limbs or wherever else it is needed. It seems very similar if no the same as another hot cold pack I have and love. I expect this one will last well and get used often both to cool down my dogs as well as other uses.

While this is advertised for use with pets, it is great for toddlers' imagined (or real) injuries. The pictures of animals on the pack make it a lot of fun. Even when completely frozen, the pack remains flexible. It makes a great bath toy as well and we used it for some basic lessons in thermodynamics (hot pack plus cold water = warm water, cold pack plus hot water = pack melts). At room temp it also provides a great sensory activity for kids sensitive to sticky or wet hands.
