Heart Of The Sun: An Anthology In Exaltation Of Sekhmet

A good devotional book
"Heart of the Sun" is an anthology, and as anthologies go, it is fairly good. Sekhmet is one of the most important and frequenly most misinterpreted and misunderstood goddesses in all of Ancient Egyptian religion. Candace Kant and Anne Key have made a very good attempt at putting together some writings which include guided meditations, prayers and poems to Sekhmet that are sure to be valued by fans and devotees of the goddess. Normandi Ellis, Barbara Hand Clow and Elaine Tartasky and others have given readers some wonderful entries tht are not only modern interpretations of Sekhmet but call upon actual historical texts. The downside for me is that the book is far too short at just over 140 pages. My second gripe is that this book is one of those titles that needs to be avaialble not just in print but as a Kindle title as well.

Mostly Fiction
I was hoping to read people's encounters with Sekhmet but this is mostly personal opinions and personal poetry addressed to Sekhmet.

Lovely tribute
I really enjoyed this book. I am learning about Sekhmet and I loved how this book was written. It's comprised mostly of personal essay, poetry and artwork from people who have knowledge and experience of Sekhmet. It's arranged in three sections, the first one is more historically-oriented with some historians commenting and a highly Egyptian flavor to the contributions. The second section focuses on The Temple of Goddess Spirituality Dedicated to Sekhmet in Navada, it's history and people's experiences with the temple and with the Goddess of the temple. The last section deals with "contemporary manifestations" and are highly personal and very recent experiences from a variety of different types of people. It shows a breadth and depth to the Lioness Headed Mother that the average researcher or beginning devotee might not ever discover otherwise. It's a work formed out of love for the Goddess and provides a great tool for the Sekhmet devotee (or any Goddess-worshiper, really).Blessings,-Scarlet

Beautiful
I ordered HotS on a whim to delve into what others think/feel/see about Sekhmet through a modern lens. Typically I tend to focus on more ancient sources and personal intuition. I was pleasantly surprised with what I found in this book! Through a wide verity of stories, poems, hymns, and personal reflection the reader is able to see that this ancient goddess is alive and well in the hearts of her modern followers! HotS is a beautiful collection!

Love Sekhmet, love this book
I love this book. It is a wonderful collection of stories, essays, invocations, poetry, and experiences with the Goddess Sekhmet. So glad I bought it. If you are called by Sekhmet, you should add this book to your library.

Good book of personal experiences
I think this book is well written with examples of personal experiences for people with the Goddess Sekhmet. I wish it had additional historical background of the Goddess added.

My favorite Goddess book!
I liked and or loved every essay, selection of fiction and poem in Heart of the Sun. Together with the Spiral Dance, this is the book I would give to anyone seeking the Goddess. It's the best study of a single Deity I have read, and one of my all-time favorite books in general. I hope Heart of the Sun will reach the wide audience it deserves.

SEKHMET QUEEN OF EVERTHING
THIS BOOK IS 5 STAR IF YOU LOVE SXMT AND PRAYING GRAB COPYIn Egyptian mythology, Sekhmet /ˈsɛkˌmɛt/[1] or Sachmis (/ˈsækmɨs/; also spelled Sakhmet, Sekhet, or Sakhet, among other spellings) was originally the warrior goddess as well as goddess of healing for Upper Egypt. She is depicted as a lioness, the fiercest hunter known to the Egyptians. It was said that her breath formed the desert NEBET NESERT. She was seen as the protector of the pharaohs and led them in warfare.
