Standard circuit overdrive pedal, but noisy
The Caline CP75 uses the usual dual op-amp limiter/clipper circuit to add the distortion and the usual simple tone shift. The Fat/Normal/Super switch has a slight effect on the feel of the midrange. It all works much as one might expect, provided the guitar is busy enough and loud enough to mask the hiss introduced by the CP75 circuitry. The box and knobs and foot switch are nice and durable, but the unprotected little toggle switch will soon be broken by a hurried stamp with the boot. The toggle (if it had to be used) would have been much better swapped in position with the “Gain” knob.Alas, the hiss is louder than I would expect, and is probably because of a cheaper op-amp being used. This kind of circuit will always produce some hiss because of the nature of the non-linear feedback around the first op-amp in a low-signal environment, but here it is a bit too much, even with the “Gain” set on minimum and “Tone” for least top. Bypass is clean, so the way the hiss crashes in is all too obvious, but it might not be so noticeable with a higher level signal source such as from a pre-amp.Power consumption is reasonable; 4.4mA when on bypass, and 5.6mA when working on the signal and the Blue LED is lit. If the supplied PP3 adaptor lead is used, just don’t leave the battery plugged in afterwards, and then up to a hundred hours of battery life is available.I would have preferred the 9V socket to be on the top end of the box, as with my other pedals, where all the angle jack leads can be arranged to drop down neatly and avoid tangles. Here it is next to the Out jack on the left and in the way.Given the hiss, the weak toggle switch and the 9V position this pedal will not be in my tray, but it might well suit someone else.

Great Guitar Pedal that's Affordable!
I'm fairly new to the guitar scene, but always wanted (needed, really) a pedal for it. I looked around and had the option to test this. This looked to have good reviews anyway, and let me tell you, for the price - especially - it is a really good, affordable guitar pedal! It's not amazing - learning to play guitar and all the gear/equipment that goes with it is a costly hobby, and this should only really be a stepping stone. But I imagine you already are aware of that.Anyway, the pedal comes well packaged, with sticky feet to attach yourself easily. It feels sturdy, reassuringly heavy, and the dials work brilliantly. No, the pedal isn't brilliant - I found there to be a bit a hiss about the thing that may well have indicated quality as a reflection of the affordable price. But the gain and different controls means you can have most any kind of pitch or sound you want. The normal in/out sockets are along the side, and overall I was pretty impressed with the quality. Somewhat of a hiss, but you get what you pay for. And you're paying for a great start in playing guitar loudly, and professionally.

Bass, The Ital Frontier!
i had hoped to employ a close family member to test this out, who is/was a player in an internationally renowned touring and recording band (who might they be i hear you shout - i'm not saying, but you can throw that in the dustbin, crooner!), but he's awful busy, so amateur hour it is!i like reggae, so i like bass (lots of bass!), and actually own a bass, which allows me to channel my skills to play like shakespeare! pitifully, play like william shakespeare and not as my ambition might dictate, the great robbie!but, i'm game, just talentless, so let's see...........what damage i can do!i fear it may be damage more fitting in a 'rock' environment, and due to my severe allergy to 'rock' music, i should say it's a handier tool for the shredders amongst us to attain the desired effects. although, the effect might have some use in a dubwise stylee, so let's not rule anything out.the unit itself is quite robust, but also has a disposable feel - i had no problems activating switches, and producing sounds of a pleasing nature, but i'm fully aware of my limitations and lack of technical knowledge. had fun doing so but actual performance is a land i'll probably never visit, so i'm not sure how it would fare in such an environment. i shall stick my neck out and say the unit would be a boon to a learner or a happy amateur, less so for the seasoned professional!

Cheap n cheerful overdrive pedal
Having got rid of all my (admittedly cheap 'n' crappy) old effects pedals years ago, and going virtual on that front, when this came up on Vine I jumped on it. It's my favourite type of my favourite colour, which is a real boon. The pedal itself is a cheap Chinese job, and not brilliant. But it's nice to go 'old school', and have an overdrive pedal instead of digitally modelled distortion. It's early to give a definitive judgement, as I've only had it a couple of days. I've tried it with both a guitar and a keyboard, and it gives a nice dirty edge to both. Through little practice amps at low volumes it's a bit noisy, which disappears when you bypass it with the stomp switch. There are three rotary controls, level, tone and gain. And a three-way switch: fat, normal or super. I think it'll take some playing with for me to learn how to get the best from it. I'm primarily a drummer as well, so I'll be learning (or rather re-learning) as I go. I quite fancy using the pedal more with keys, as much as guitar, to get dirty '70s electric piano type sounds. It comes with four separate stick-on type rubber feet, that you can add if you desire. Also there's a short lead that allows you to connect a 9V battery to the power in port. However, I'm using dedicated 9V guitar pedal power supplies. All in all, a cheap and cheerful little unit I'm happy to have.
