A Taste Of Heritage: The New African American Cuisine

I really like this book as it showcases the art of true African-American cooking by using items we don't normally cook with everyday. I like the detailed instructions and the chefography of the contributers. I have since cooked several of the recipes and every one has came out great. The book details the ingredients that I am not familiar with and also offers an alternative if you cannot readily find the first choice ingredient. I would have loved to see some color photos but overall, this is a great book if you want to cook in the old timey way. Some of the recipes take longer to cook than our micro meals we are accustomed to nowadays, but they are worth the effort. A great recipe book to begin cooking and it will be with me for a long time to come.

The book was covered in dusty grime. Dried insect wings and dried webs. I cleaned the outside then opened cover and it was ugly. Dead insect wings and grime.i hope it is not dead roach.upset. the pages are yellow like it was in storage too long.

I like this cookbook very much. The dishes are great and I'm so surprised and delighted that the recipes are written in simple, easy to understand steps. I haven't tried any yet, but will be making some dishes for Thanksgiving. I do wish that there were pictures - there isn't a single picture in the entire book, which I think is very odd for a cookbook. If it was a matter of cost, I think the writers and publishers should have waited until they could afford at least a few pictures.

Ihought this such a great cookbook, just full of history of cooking that Affrican/Americans should be proud of. There are so many recipes to try .What a wonder buy for your collection!

gave as a gift, they wanted it for a Christmas present, they said the really liked it. I never cook anything out of it. So since I personal never use it, I can not give it a great.

This is a gift for a friend who saw my copy and wanted one for herself.

This cookbook is the real deal for those that are interested in a way of preparing food that has been learned in the kitchen of families for centuries.

...love learning about the origins of recipes and are a lover of southern US and should food, then this book is indispensable. There is a treasure trove of amazing recipes here, and I'm already knocked off four or five. This boook needs to be reissued in hard cover format, as all cook boos should be in. A timeless reference.
