Old Hong Kong Photos and The Tales They Tell, Volume 3 Paperback – January 1, 2019

For anyone with a love of Hong Kong, especially those who have lived there, this series of books is a gold mine of well-researched information. If you happened, like me, to have lived in HK a number of years ago before the tall glass buildings took over the waterfront, this series will be of interest. I learned so much looking at the pictures which showed life long before my time, but of familiar places, many which are now gone.The author shows us a detailed a picture of some interesting spot in HK in the past and then dissects it with close-ups and overlays over the course of several pages to pinpoint where, what and when the photograph represents in amazing detail. Each book has around 10-15 detailed pictures which are handled in this way with a lot of written description for each.I cannot say enough about how much I appreciate the time the author has taken to document each of these amazing photographs. This series was my Christmas gift to several friends from old Hong Kong days this year and all enjoyed them.

Yet another superb volume in the series. If you have any interest in the history of such a fascinating country as Hong Kong, then these books are for you. The photographs are fantastic, as is the journey / guided tour that Mr Bellis takes you on in his narrative investigation into them. I can’t wait for volume 4.
