Good album
Good music for its time I played some of its songs on Detroit radio in the early 1970's. The band was always playing in the Detroit ball rooms and clubs. Lonnie trembath

If you like psychedelic rock, this may be for you
Classic Detroit psychedelic rock band. Being a fan of 60's and 70's psychedelic rock luckily I stumbled across this band while on a YouTube search for covers of House of the Rising Sun. I do think they have the best cover of House of the Rising Sun, my personal opinion though. This is their most popular song, which was #4 in the UK and #1 in Germany. I don't know how I didn't know about this version of the song.I purchased the CD out of curiosity. I don't really have any complaints, as who truly likes every song on a CD purchase? Sorry I'm not gifted enough to describe in detail why I like or dislike particular songs on this CD. All I can do is recommend checking out some YouTube videos to see if this is up your alley.

A Gem When Music was Actual Music
A hard to find item for any music collector. One of many great Detroit area rock bands from the 60's and early 70's, that never quite got their full due. The version of "House of the Rising Sun" is just a classic.A must purchase.Oh well just my 2 cents.

Over Rated Retro Rock
I had this on LP back in the day, and boy, I WISH I would've remembered better that it was a spotty LP, and just WHY these cats never made the cut to the first division like bands such as CACTUS and MOUNTAIN did. It HAS it's moments, but I wish now that I would've gotten the other BLOODROCK CD that I was thinking of scoring, those boys could and did just flat out wail, this just THREATENS to, but the guitar chops just don't make it high grade enough. Ah well...as we AGE we tend to remember some bands in a fond way, perhaps IF one was STILL "altering" one's thinking as we did, this would sound better! But it's by no means a total loss, there are some good moments, just not enough to actually overcome shoddy production and not quite big league enough songwriting craft. After all, there WERE reasons WHY some bands never quite broke through.

Surprisingly Good Music
I picked up this CD because I remembered their version of "House of the Rising Sun" as being a really compelling mix of hard-driving rock with a tinge of the psychedelia so redolent of the era. I was surprised to find that these guys produced a pretty solid album. No question, they play loud and use a lot of percussion, but seem comfortable with a number of musical genres, including blues, ballads and of course, kick-ass rock. The sound on this particular import is superb - very clean, good seperation, crisp highs and hard-hitting lows. This is an album that demands to be played loud.

It came in one piece!
I have been searching for this album for a while. The album came tightly and safely packaged, and it arrived with no damage. That was my biggest concern! But by the excellent care of the shipper, it arrived OK.

best version for the house of the rising sun
I really like this album for the simple fact, it does reflect the music that was played back in the late 60s early 70s which today's bands. They just do not have what it takes to play this kind of music, but my favorite song out of this whole album is house of the rising sun. In my opinion, and I have been with bands almost 40 some years is one of the best versions ever done, especially with the lead guitars and a little bit heavier on the power cords and if you listen to the house of the rising sun you be buying the album.

More than just The House of the Rising Sun
At the time this US based band were probably seen as a one hit band with their superlative take on the House of the Rising Sun (popularised previously by the Animals). For my money this heavier rendition is one of those rare covers that betters the original (OK I know it’s a traditional blues song that pre-dates the Animals).Hands up I bought it on the strength of this song but the rest of the album is a fine representation of Blues Rock of the early 70’s and if that’s what turns you on you won’t be disappointed.

Essence of late sixties heavy rock
A period piece of a specific time in the history of rock, namely the very late sixties. You can hear Cream, Hendrix and Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac here. Most will buy for the overdriven House of the Rising Sun, but the rest is pretty good too.

Frijid? not this band.
I first heard Frijid Pink’s version of “House Of The Rising Sun” on the radio in 1970 and was immediately blown away. We were all familiar with the Animals amazing 1964 version of this old folk/blues tune but F.P's rendition took it to another level. This hard driving blues/rock album with influences from The Allman Brothers, Canned Heat etc. has much more to offer. Look out for a stomping version of Presley’s “Heartbreak Hotel” and a Canned Heat influenced “I’m On My Way” Other favourites of mine are “God Gave Me To You”, “Drivin’ Blues” and “End of the Line”. Of course the pièce de résistance of this album is “Rising Sun” and worth the asking price alone but, if it is the only track you know by this band then take a chance on this album, you will not be disappointed.
