It is my opinion/conclusion resulting from years of actual tasting/sampling that English Cuisine (in addition to being a major oxymoron) is a cruel joke. In the real world it is essentially nothing more than a means of warding off starvation. That being said, there have been a few – very few – fortunate accidents over the centuries on “the tight little island” that resulted in toothsome culinary treats. One of those is Branston Sandwich Pickle (Red Top, small chunk), a chutney favored by the English for inclusion in their ubiquitous picnic basket fare, a cheese (traditionally Cheddar) and pickle ‘sanwidge’ on white bread. (The Brits don’t, won’t or can’t say ‘sandwich.’) I recommend avoiding the cheese and pickle ‘sanwidge’ (yes, I’ve tried it). Instead make a sandwich using a hardy and substantial wheat bread (avoid ‘balloon’ bread at all costs) spread with approximately 1 part Branston Sandwich Pickle to 2 parts Crunchy JIF Peanut Butter. Branston Sandwich Pickle also makes a delightful seasoning for roast pork – hot or cold on your plate, or cold in a sandwich made with a hardy wheat or sourdough bread. There is a space in my refrigerator door reserved for Branston Sandwich Pickle (Red Top, small chunk).

I used to live in the UK and I loved to put Branston Pickle on my cheese sandwiches. I like that this particular version comes in smaller pieces. Makes it easier to spread than the traditional larger chunks version. It is expensive but that’s the price you pay I guess when you are pining for things from them”Ol’ Country”! 😊

I love this stuff, and my local stores do not carry it, even when they carry marmite, which is gross.It's unlike any American brand pickle flavor profile, salty, sweet, vinegary, sharp in perfect proportion.The small chunk is perfect for even spreading on a cheese sandwich, and for my number one use if it, making the best tasting eggsalad ever.

So utterly disappointed. Housebound and all we wanted was a taste of home here in the States. I was so excited to find some on Amazon. Received it. Opened the box and the jar has already been opened and a huge scoop full clearly already taken. So so frustrated and now I see I can’t return it either. This is terrible service.

the only thing I have to complain about is that the lid was loose so the pickle was allover the packaging, luckily didn't escape the bubble wrap.

Was inspired to buy this by a mention in a book I was reading. Amazing stuff! So good on so many things. The closest thing I can compare it to is a really good chutney, but without the spice.

Branston makes the best pickles. I LOVE the smaller dice to add to cheese sandwiches. Ready to smear on bread without having the mess of cutting up regular size Branston.

I love this, my wife likes the small chunks in the sandwich spread over the large chunks in the regular jar as I bought here
