Simply Stunning
This is an amazingly beautiful book, with photographs of artwork, some well known to me and others new to me, accompanying literary excerpts. This will hold a permanent place in my bookshelf - the highest compliment I can give a book.

Interesting insofar as they are a collection of love letter after love letter to the beloved to get into said beloved's pants.

Beware.
The title and reviews are misleading. This is a beautiful book of period art but anyone looking for joys of the flesh, nudity, erotica, etc. and the secret life of libertines in this period will be seriously disappointed. Ain't there.

Gorgeous survey of period art!
This book is visually stunning, and has excerpts of novels, poems, and love letters from the 18th C, along with some racy paintings to do justice to the title. As a great lover of 18th Century French art, I quite adore this book!

Great Book!
Although it occasionally wanders from its French theme this is a great visual anthology.
