Intense
Used was intense but well worth the read. It spoke of trauma and victory. The relationship between Lier and Elise was steamy and unexpected, but it withstood all their trials and made for an excellent read. I like had there happily ever after had to be fought for and real change came from their all the pain they were forced to endure. Can’t wait to read flawed.

Ridiculous ending
Spoilers Spoilers SpoilersYeah, so when you have an omega experience a brutal, violent rape, you don't get to write a HEA just 2 weeks later because she gets into heat and everything magically turns ok. Both Elise and Leir needed weeks to heal from what they went through. Instead, she goes into heat 2 weeks later and he helps her get through it after limping from the hospital on the first day out. Talk about lazy writing!First of all, not believable. There's nothing sexy reading about two people getting it on while still recovering from major violence and covered in bruises. Second, someone that beaten would not have gone into heat; her omega body was too injured and still recovering to be able to handle heat. Third, any doctor in their right mind would have given Elise suppressants to delay her heat while she healed.I mean the whole premise is ridiculous and just ruined the story for me. The others books in this series were much better and less dark.

excellent! cant wait to read the next!
Starting the next book in the series now. I didn’t know if I would like the alien twist in this but I was pleasantly surprised and will be starting the next book now.

An easy read for lazy day
I liked the Hero and Heroine. I liked the interaction between the Hero and his second. The hottest scene in the book actually didn't have sex in the strictest sense, which made it that much hotter. I enjoyed the story which is what makes it worth it. A tad predictable but fun.

This is a great story!
Leann Ryans never disappoints! This story is about a young female that follows the law turns herself into the government because she is an omega. She follows all the rules and and still finds trouble. Leann has a gift of developing her characters so much so that you are immediately drawn into the story and unable to stop reading until the story is complete. This is another great one from Leann.

A competently written dark m/f omegaverse sci-fi romance.
This novel was fairly cleanly written and edited, with not too many typos that I found in the ARC version of this manuscript. The world building of this universe was excellent, just like most of this author's other m/f omegaverse romances. The characterization was competently done, with the heroine being a sympathetic character. The hero was definitely in the grey zone, as far as being a sympathetic character. * spoiler * I enjoyed the novel very much except for one part of the story where the hero engages in some cheating that was very exploitative. If that is a no-go for you, I would skip this novel entirely in favor of this author's other omegaverse series. She has quite a few, and this is the first novel that I have read by her that included the hero cheating on the heroine. * end spoiler * The development of the romantic relationship was natural and organic, considering how action-packed the plot was. The plot and pacing of this book was very exciting, with me turning pages rapidly to find out what was going to happen next. There was surprisingly little angst experienced by the heroine, considering all the massively traumatizing stuff she went through in this novel, and the stakes were very high. That tends to be one of my preferred narrative structures for a romance novel. This novel uses the Virgin and the Bad Boy trope, and also the Mating Bond trope common to omegaverse romances. There is also a variation on the Enemies to Lovers trope in here. The world building in this novel was four stars. The plot and pacing was five stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship was four stars. Normally, that would make the combined score of this novel four stars, but because of the story element that I spoil above, I took one star off the combined score for a total of three stars. One of the reasons I started auto buying this author's work is because she wrote m/f omegaverse where the hero was actually heroic instead of being a monster, like most of the other m/f omegaverse romance out there. Some dark omegaverse romances work for me, and some don't. This one did not work for me. This author is no longer an auto buy author for me when she comes out with a new release. I am going to be much more careful from now on about what novels I choose to read and buy of hers. I no longer trust that I will always enjoy the stories that she writes. This novel has a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a big plus for this novel. I recommend this novel to fans of dark m/f omegaverse romances who are not bothered by the plot spoiler above. I do not plan to buy a keeper copy of this novel for myself.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Great addition to this author’s library of works...
Is this darker than what she usually writes? Yes, definitely. Is this one of the darkest Omegaverse books I’ve read? No, definitely not. Do I think there is a great blend of the dark and light in this book? Most definitely.I want to address something that I read in another review of this book and it’s my personal opinion so take it as nothing more than that ... cheating in this storyline. I DID NOT read it that way at all. I am a hardcore, hard limit, hard NO reader when it comes to cheating in books. I won’t read them. If I read a cheating book unaware, my review will ALWAYS reflect that. The scene in question happens prior to any established relationship between the main characters.I actually really enjoyed both of the main characters of this story. They read like what you would expect in both an Alpha and Omega. Both strong in a way that makes them characters worth reading. And it ends in a HEA with no cliffhanger! There is also an opening for more from this world with different characters. This book is completely different from what this author usually writes, which to me is fantastic. When an author continuously writes the “same type” or follows the “same formula” in their characters, the writing can get stale and boring, that is not what is happening with the author. That shows growth in her writing and experience. If you’ve read Omegaverse before and are looking for a storyline with more of a edge then this book is what you’re looking for. It does have some triggers that readers need to be aware of, and that’s the dark aspect of this story. Overall, I recommend this book and hope you add it to your Omegaverse library.Great KU read.

An Emotional and Enjoyable Read
I'm quite new to the omega verse and this is one of the first books I've read in the genre. The world building was impressive and definitely felt like I was in a futuristic sci-fi world. The book is listed as a dark sci-fi and there are some scenes that some readers might find difficult to get through, however Elsie's reactions and emotions towards these incidents are written sensitively and realistically. Overall I did enjoy it and would be willing to give the next book in the series a go, especially with the interesting glimpse at what could be in store.

Enjoyable
I really enjoyed this book. Loved Leir and Elise. Their relationship progressed beautifully. There was a couple of scenes that were very hard to read so if you feel you might be triggered, please beware. I feel they were handled quite well though.

Used
Should have realized from the title that this would be S & M. Not my type of "romance". Big miss.
