Work great
These are very effective at reducing the population of deer and horse flys.I have been using them for 5 years now.I put 5 out around the house.About 80 yards from each other.A Shepard hook works well to hang them from. You will need some string or a wire tie to hang them with.I have only tried the black onesMake sure to put them in 80 to 100% sun areas.Central Mn best between late May and August.

These are awesome!
I am so pleased with these! I used tangle trap on the balls instead of catch em due to reviews. I was literally catching horse flies as I was hanging it up. They are awesome!! So satisfying. I can literally watch the balls catch the flies. I attached a photo. This photo is 24 hours after I put it out! I have 3 out at the moment and they all look like this. Though the ones I have by the water troughs seem to catch more of the smaller flies and the ones I have by the shelter catch large horse flies. I did stick the balls out before I put tangle trap on because my horses are nuisances and try to steal and make toys out of literally everything they can get a hold of. I did have to move one of the balls twice because the were able to touch it over the fence. I recommend hanging it before you put the sticky on to see if they can reach out if you are using for livestock. I love these so far!

Wonderful balls of flying creature carcasses
Aside from the tangle trap sticking to everything, so don’t buy the spray, these thing kill hundreds of deer, horse, and yellow flies as well as gnats in very large numbers. We live in the woods and you can tell how good they are by simply walking to the end of our driveway and watching the attacks commence

Solves Biting Fly Problems!!!
We live on lake in the Midwest adjacent to several acres of bog. Eliminating standing water to reduce biting insects is a non-starter! Starting every year around June, we would run the 500 feet from back door to dock with towels over our heads to protect ourselves from the biting flies. We started using bug balls about 5 years ago with amazing results! I remember hanging the first one and seeing a deer fly get stuck as I was applying the Tangle Trap coating (I've also used Catch Em' since with equal success). Talk about satisfying!!! Currently, we hang bug balls on extra tall shepherds hooks every 150 feet or so along the edge of our property (adjacent to the bog) and almost never see a deer or horse fly . . . unless it's stuck to the bug ball!!!Placement should be after the majority of the pollen is gone and the biting flies are starting to appear (early June where I live). We made the mistake of putting them out early one year and pollen coated the balls, rendering them completely ineffective. Clean up at the end of the year is easy as long as you're OK throwing them away. It is possible to clean them off with paint thinner . . . but yuck!!!I've used both the spray and brush on versions of the ball coating. Spray is MUCH easier to apply, but I think the brush on works better. One can covers about 2 balls. I keep some in reserve to recoat the balls in late summer.Black is my color of choice. It effectively catches both deer and horse flies. I tried the blue ones last year. While they did give a few of my neighbors an endless source of amusement, they seemed to be less effective at attracting the flies in my area.In summary, I can't recommend this product enough for anyone having issues with biting flies!

These really do work on horse flies and deer flies
I have 4 of these around my pool area due to how bad the flies get. You do need to clean them often for them to stay effective. I use a paint scraper to scrap off the dead flies and then apply new bug goo.

Works for yellow flies
Doesn’t get them all, but does make a big difference. Yellow flies stuck all over the sticky balls

They work and are very effective!
I have pictures taken over a few days time and each day there were 25 or more horse flys stuck to each one of them and I had 3 set out. I just bought 6 more so I am really impressed with them.WLM

Valve faulty.
Bought the six pack. Five of the six inflated fine. The valve on #6 was detached from the inside of the ball and couldn't be inflated.
