HAFLINGERUnisex AS Slippers Wool Feltsole

Another one bites the dust
Haflinger!! Are you listening?? What happened to you? So very sad to say that the Haflinger quality that was built into the last pair of slippers I bought THIRTEEN YEARS AGO.... Yes, you heard right. My Haflinger slippers lasted 13 years until finally starting to give up the ghost. The right slipper sprung a leak between the sole and upper at the front - just came unstiched. But even then, I still got about another year out of them. But bless their little soles, they needed to be put out to pasture. Hence this new order that I received today. When I went online to order the new pair, I was shocked to see so many reviews of these slippers getting holes in the toe, sole separating from the upper, insole fraying around the edges.... and after only a year or less. Yikes!! Even so, I decided to take my chances and order a new pair. Now I see the issue. When I compare this new pair to the old, beat-to-hell true blues, I can easily why these slippers will fail pretty quickly. Even as beat up as the old pair are, the wool uppers are fully TWICE as thick as the wool uppers on this new pair. And scratchy on the skin, not the soft wool of the old ones. There's no way the old pair would have ever sprung a hole at the toe or anywhere else. The soles are much thinner on this new pair and are much less cushioned that my old pair, assuming the latex layer is thinner. Therefore, it is never going to mold to my foot as well, or create as high of an arch support as the old pair. This new pair is much lighter in weight than the old pair.I have to admit that I am very, very disappointed in Haflinger's fall from grace. But they made sure their price points didn't fall! No sir! People who are new to Haflinger may think these slippers are the cat's meow. But those of us that have been with Haflinger for 10 or 20 years know what a fine, high-quality slipper Haflinger used to produce. They were the gold standard that all else aspired to.So, I'm returning these and I'm starting my search for a new brand of boiled wool slipper or something similar. I know they're out there. Just gotta find them. But I can't justify spending this much for what I received today. Luckily, with companies like Amazon and Zappos, you can try to your hearts content until you find the perfect fit!Haflinger.... man, what else can I say? I'm going to have to break up with you. It's you, not me. You have let yourself go to pot over the years. Now it's time to look around for that newer, sleeker, finer model. Cest laVie!

Already falling apart!
Decent slippers but I have only had them for 5 months of normal use and the sole is detaching from the shoe! I was hoping they would last a while given the price, but it turns out the quality wasn't what I paid for!

Reduced Quality over past models.
2 Stars. Reason. I replaced a pair of these received as a gift from over 10 years ago. They lasted that long with Heavy, Everyday wear. The newer products aren't even close to the quality with which these used to be made. It's a shame because the style and comfort is unmatched, but while you can expect to get a year or two from these they simply are not what they used to be. Will find a different brand for our next purchase.

Most comfortable slippers ever!
I just thought I'd write a review after my first pair of slippers bit the dust. It's only been nine months, but I knew there were issues with longevity based on all the other reviews. And I work at home, so I was literally wearing them during all waking hours. I was hoping they'd last a little longer though, thus the four-star review instead of a five-star review. Still, they got me through a really bad case of plantar fasciitis, and I would recommend them in a heartbeat to anyone suffering from foot problems. I think you have to look at them as more of a temporary solution to a problem. For example, you wouldn't complain if a band-aid didn't hold up after using it for several months. Of course, these are much expensive than a band-aid, but for me, it was definitely worth $60 for nine months of relatively pain-free feet. Going forward though, I decided to switch over to the Haflinger Storm Flat with the hope that they'll last a bit longer. And I have a spare pair of the AS slippers in the closet for any future flare-ups. One last thing - I decided to hand wash these in the future. I think the washing machine might have contributed to their fast decline. There was often felt coming off and stitching coming undone after a machine wash, especially toward the end.

Great Gift for Mom
I bought these for my mom for Christmas. They are somewhat ugly, but I bought them based on other reviews about comfort and the fact that they don't make your feet sweat (causing stinky slippers that can never be washed). I actually tried them on when I got my order and they seemed really hard-soled. My mother didn't look too happy when she unwrapped them. She definitely is not one to hide her feelings. She called me about 2 months later raving about how great they are and how much she loves them. She says they are the most comfortable slippers she has ever had and that her feet never get too hot or sweaty (yay for other peoples reviews!). I asked about the hard soles and she said that they seemed like they would be uncomfortable at first, but she never had a "breaking in period where they were uncomfortable".

Customer service was excellent.
Bought these for my wife, who loves them. Didn't give 5 stars because one of the slippers developed a tear along a seam. The seller offered to replace or refund a portion of the purchase price. My wife chose to sew them herself. Despite the flawed seam, would purchase again. Customer service was excellent.

Warm and comfortable. Not very durable.
This is my third pair of this slipper and I'll come back for more when I need a new pair. They are super comfortable, warm but not sweaty, quiet. I wear this slippers all year long around the house and they last for about a year. After that the sole start breaking apart (we have hardwood floors everywhere, so I wonder if it has something to do with it). They fit right to size but if you have high arch they may feel a fit tight at the top. They stretch ins about few weeks of wearing though.

Comfortable but a little loose fitting
These slippers are really comfortable. I have plantar fasciitis and these have nice arch support. I wear a size 10, sometimes 11 depending on the shoe, so I ordered size 41 (women's 10) in these slippers and they are a little too big. Granted I do have narrow feet. I kept them anyway because I have laminate flooring and my feet have been killing me so I didn't want to wait for another pair.

Warm and not bulky
like the comfort and style. They fit perfectly based on the size ordered. If you want to keep your feet warm, this is it.

Do not size down
Read online that we should pick a 1/2 size smaller but that is not true....i am a 91/2 and had to get a 10....9 too small but the return process and re--order was flawless!

ok
They are ok. Not as good/supportive as I expected given the price point. Wouldn't buy again.
