The Best of What Remains For Vinyl Care....
OK, maybe I should qualify the title, as audiophiles with plenty of money (more money than brains?) do have far far better options. Among them cleaning systems that involve a special turntable just for cleaning that squirts some ungodly concoction of an alchemist's brew on to one's precious virgin limited resource fossil substrate. Those run about $2000 to $3000 US.Back in the 70s and 80s, and even up to the late 90s the Discwasher system was hands down the best in this price range. But someone in the new concern thought that a corduroy-like fabric could replace the old, to disastrous results. Do Not even go there, if indeed you still are able. This leaves Stanton VC-1 system, and it is the closest thing in spirit to the old Discwasher system. I find that the cleaning fluid is adequate, certainly doesn't harm the vinyl as far as I can inspect and hear. And the dry brush does a good, but not stellar job of cleaning simple dust from the platter. More difficult flotsam is another matter. In this modest price range the Stanton is your best option. As well I also think their SC-4 Stylus cleaner is an attempt in the right direction. As a vinylphile since 1966 when I was a tyke of 5 and ruthlessly spinning discs on our family mahogany console, I have used all levels of equipment (although the $100,000 turntable made in Maine I have yet to try) and now that I'm broke again for the third time I can feel comfortable knowing that my 6500 albums are being well protected by me in conjunction with not too liberal nor overuse of the Stanton system. Use it, just don't go overboard with it thinking it will remove hardened snot, tears, spittle, phlegm or any regurgitation.

I like it, but i don't see anything different from the other cleaner that i used 30 years ago in Brazil. The brush and handle is nice and feels good to work with. It does clean and get some of the dust out, and I think it diminishes the static a little. You definitely need to use more solution than the amount recommended and i would get as much of the dust out before applying it. I personally, like to clean the record with an anti-static cloth first if it's dusty or dirty then, with another clean anti-static cloth I like to use a mix of 40/60 of water and alcohol to get it a bit cleaner, before using this solution. I'd recommend do a research to know what kind of alcohol and water to use though, plus some people say alcohol is not a good option so. I'm not saying you should do this. I'm just saying that so far it has worked for me.

a disappointment
I bought this item because I'm embarking on that rite of passage into middle age: transferring my LPs to digital files. So I bought a USB-enabled turntable & the record cleaner kit. As is clearly shown in the picture, the kit consists of a pad, pad tray & a 2 oz bottle of cleaning solution. You're supposed to sweep the record with the dry pad, apply 3-4 drops of the cleaning fluid to the edge of the pad, re-sweep & then do a final sweep with a dry portion of the pad. I've encountered at least 3 problems with this product:1) poorly written/non-updated instructions - you're supposed to sweep the record "in the direction of the arrows on the handle", well, there are no arrows on the handle, I can only hope that the fibers of the pad are not directional2) inadequate wicking of the cleaning fluid - the 3-4 drops of fluid don't spread out very well &, as a result, there's a tendency to clean only narrow tracks of the record3) lack of a cleaning tool (or at least some instructions) for the pad itself - where does all that dirt you've cleaned off of the record go? Onto the pad, where it stays until perhaps it's deposited onto the next record.I can remember (back in the day) buying record cleaning kits that had none of these deficiencies. Apparently the folks that made those products have gone the way of the buggy whip manufacturers...

nice replacement
I have one more box of albums to get thru in digitally converting them - I am a prodigious album cleaner - every time I play it - it gets cleaned - used to have a cleaner that attached to the spindle and I just pushed it around with the same material as this and a spray on cleaner like this one has - dont have the spindle attachment so I have to spin the turntable instead of the cleaner but it works - its well built and looks as if it would last forever - packaging and shipping were great!

I Love Vinyl
I am a new convert to the vinyl revolution! I also have a lot of old records, but these new 180 and 200 gram records are amazing! I am hearing things that MP3 just misses! If you do not know what 180 grams of vinyl feels like, just imagine your favorite recording of an object that feels like it is on a old 78 rpm record! Virgin vinyl makes a perfectly quiet silence! The music just jumps off the record and you feel like you are hearing for the first time! I LOVE VINYL!

fantastic record brush
I've had mine since 2011, and have used it to clean several thousand (yes I said thousand) records I personally only use it only for dry cleaning, as I have a spin clean for those really dirty fingerprinted records. this is a directional brush whether or not you have one with arrows I use mine backwards with the writing upside down or the opposite direction of the arrows and then wipe dust off the brush in the other direction as the material is bi- directional. still works just as good as when I first got it....

Easy
Works very well. Be sure to spread a complete line of the juice across the pad so you'll get the entire width of the album clean. I use plenty to get old albums clean. second cleaning won't need as much. Then pick up album and blow a little to get good and dry. As for cleaning the pad just wipe it sideways a few times with your hand and the dirt and dust balls up at the end for easy removal. Just takes a little common sense.

I like it
Honestly, ignore what everyone else is saying about how the cleaners now a days aren't as awesome as the once were (everyone is just imagining that they were so amazing back in the day.) This cleaner is the better of the ones available right now. The only change I would make would be that the stand that the brush sits in be a bit deeper to give it more room to "take away" the dust that is collected.

Vinly cleaner
There isn't much you can say about a cleaning product. It either cleans or it doesn't. The Stanton vinyl kit cleans the recod well enough. You use one side of the brush to wipe away the dust, then apply a few drops on to te other side of the brush (I find the three or four recommended is not enough)and apply to the vinyl. It dries very quickly. And that it is. The records played fine.I noticed on some of the records which had slight surface noise, improved in sound.

nothing special
I bought this to replace a worn out record brush but I don't think it is any more effective than any other similar product that can be bought for a lower cost.

Effective record cleaner
This is a velvet pad-type record cleaner, which is supplied with a base stand, and a 2 fl.oz (about 60ml) bottle of antistatic cleaning fluid. The instructions suggest dry-wiping the record first, before applying a few drops of the fluid to the pad & wiping again, in a clockwise direction (against the normal play direction). It works well, but I found that it usually needed a bit more than a few drops of fluid to clean the record properly. In practice, I don't now bother to dry-wipe records first- I just go to the wet-wipe straight away. The cleaner works well, and removes a surprising amount of dust. However, the instructions don't mention how to clean the velvet pad itself! I've found wiping the pad with a clean towel works well. Also, I feel the stand could have been enclosed with a lid to keep dust out.I've knocked a star off- chiefly because of the lack of instructions as to how to clean the dusty pad! Also, I can't seem to get hold of replacement bottles of cleaning fluid anywhere- it would be nice if this was available, as the supplied bottle will eventually run out! I also felt it was a little expensive- although it does look like a quality product, which will probably last a good many years.

you could make this for about $3
This is basically a piece of velvet wrapped around a rounded piece of plastic. It says to only go in the direction of the arrows on handle, but there's no arrows. The velvet gets matted after using the solution a few times. You could make the solution at home with iso alcohol and water. Go to fabric store buy a few feet of velvet, wrap it around a piece of wood and replace when needed. This is overrated and over priced. Disappointing for a product by Stanton

Great product from Stanton
This was my first record cleaner and I've only used it for a few months however it seems to be a functional and solid product; the brush and the solution do a good job at removing dirt and leave the records shining. I had a few records that did not sound as expected and this cleaner solved my issues. As other reviewers have stated there are no arrows on the brush, however you can run the brush across the tip of your fingers and determine the proper direction of use.
