Excellent compilation of prequel stories to Inspector Morse series
Shaun Evans plays the younger Morse convincingly and shows the experiences which affected his attitudes in the original Inspector Morse series so well characterised by John Thaw. Roger Allam plays the part of his mentor excellently as a well developed character in his own right.Apart from the familiar theme music there is much less classical music featured than in the original series. Had Morse not yet fully developed his love of classical music in his 20s or does ITV think we cannot cope with such meatier fare nowadays, compared with the original broadcasts in the1980s and 1990s? Still, a Jaguar Mk 2 appears as a nod to the later Morse. Most episodes are good stories and worth buying!

Enjoyable series
I am really enjoying the show, including the storylines, the casting and the scenery. It's better than Lewis, even though it doesn't beat Morse. I agree with some other viewers that the grouping of the disks is a bit messy, but personally, I don't mind. However, the HOH subtitles are of subpar quality. They contain quite a few mistakes due to inattention or possibly poor comprehension on the part of the subtitler. For example (this is not a spoiler), in the second episode of the first season (the first if we exclude the pilot), the subtitles read 'my wife Pamela and...', whereas it should be 'my wife, Pamela, and...' because the line is spoken by Edmund Sloan, his late wife was called Daphne, and Pamela is actually his daughter, so 'my wife' and 'Pamela' are two different individuals and must be separated by a comma. This is quite unacceptable: the subtitles should be written by trained professionals and proofread for this kind of mistake. If I wanted faulty subtitles, I could have printed out a fansub. txt file for free, and at least I would have been able to edit it to fix it. The price of this boxset is too high for such sloppy subtitling.

Excellent series - Stylish and compact packaging
If you are buying this box set, you already know how good the Endeavour series are. Some people have complained about the box. I like it. People have complained that the discs are stacked and that the episodes are just labelled with the series and episode numbers. Well, I think that the box is stylish and that they've made it as compact as possible by stacking the discs, which I prefer. As for the episode labelling: it's consistent with other box sets that I have. In many cases, it would be a struggle to fit the names of all the episodes on a disc, so I can live with that as a standard approach. If you are dipping in and out of a box set, you can always store the current disc upside down so you know where you'd go to.Overall - Fabulous.

Good value
Box set of all the Endeavour seasons up 2020. Good value if you still do box sets and don't want to pay to download. Not sure if downloading is cheaper.

Simply Great
Best series ever. Good stories, about crimes and private ones, good directors, good scenography, excellent acting, let alone the music. Thank you. Discs are labelled singularly indicating series and episodes, it is impossible to mistake the order. Box maybe poor but it has been made like that in order to save a bit of plastic ( five stars) and money.

A Worthy Prequel
I didn't watch Endeavour for years for the simple reason that I assumed it would be as awful as most prequel type shows have been over the years and I didn't believe it could hold a candle to Morse. How pleasantly surprised I was when I stumbled across it one day! So much so that I watched all that was available on the ITV hub, before buying this DVD to watch the pilot and first series that were no longer available to view on the hub. A worthy prequel, fantastic stuff!
