Product Description A deep, rich and peaty flavour. This slowly sun-dried coffee is grown by small holder farmers high in the Aceh Mountains jungle forest. It has a special flavour of deep rich peatyness with a syrupy mouthfeel. For a sublime late afternoons pick up, enjoy a cup of our Gajah Mountain with a smoky, peaty and single malt. Ingredients 100% Arabica Coffee.

I like it
This is an interesting Sumatran coffee. It is a bit lighter than some varieties. It has a smoky flavour, a little reminiscent of cigar tobacco, but in a very pleasant way, with a hint of nuttiness. It is not a very dark roast and is not overly-rich. Although I usually drink Italian medium-dark roasts and like rich, chocolate, flavours, I really like this variety, both on its own and in a blend with other coffees. I have had this in a mokka pot and it copes quite well with that method, although you might not think of espresso or espresso-type methods with this coffee. I have yet to try it in a cafetière (French Press) or filter, but will try to update this review, if and when I do.I bought this, in the form of beans, for friends over Christmas and ended up with a bag for myself, because a friend did not have a grinder. I have kept these beans in the freezer, with some initially kept out because they did not fit in the freezer jar. They keep well and they grind well. I would recommend these to anyone who likes good coffee and who is not overly-rigid in their preferences. If you have had Sumatran coffees before, you may have a reasonable guess as to what this is like, although it is not quite the same as other Sumatran beans I have tried. If you have never had coffee from that part of the world, you may find this a very pleasant surprise. It may be very different, but give it a chance. If necessary, try this blended with something like an Italian or Columbian variety.I never drink milk and only very rarely have cream with coffee, but I would suggest only using a little milk with this and would suggest not trying a full-on latte or even a cappuchino until you have some idea of the coffee's own flavour and how milk might affect it.

The most flavoursome coffee I have tried!
The office is a great proving ground for coffee. We use a Sage Precision Brew filter machine and have tried all the usual variations of Lavazza, Taylor’s etc…. We have also recently tried Union’s Espresso blend as well.Brewed a pot of this one the other day and upon the first sip, the reaction from all 4 guys was “Oh wow”.This is the smoothest, most flavoursome coffee I have tried to date.

First time I’ve ordered beans over the internet and although these are within the brew date they’re already 5 months old. I’d never buy beans ordinarily which were roasted so long ago so won’t be ordering online again

Great taste
I do like my Union coffee, it’s a little more expensive but well worth the cost. Sainsbury’s has started selling it now so watch out for their discounts, usually 50p - £1:00 off and occasionally 3for2s

Check 'Best before' dates!
Delivery was prompt. All six packs of Gajah Mountain coffee were ok. But one of them was past it's 'best before' date.I have ordered six more and am hoping it won't be a repeat of my first order. We'll see.
