Better quality than cheaper ones
Just get the Rule. There is a reason they cost more… they are better. Have found the cheap ones have more brittle plastic than these. My boat almost sunk thanks to a cheaper one breaking at the neck.

As Advertised
OEM Grizzly Tracker live well pump won't prime. Thought it might be damaged, cracked, etc. Replaced the 500GPM with this 800GPM. Comes will all mounting seals and wiring. Pump seems to work as advertised. Wire color matched (brown/black). Have not tested in the water.

This is a pretty nice live well pump. It seems to be better quality then the Johnson pump it replaced.

Out-of-the box the motor's rotor contacts the housing causing the fuse to fry.
The install went very smooth (replaced an old Rule 500). Had to flip the valve to make the Rule 800 to fit but that was easy. The Rule 800 was super easy to install with the adjustable discharge port. All was well until I fired up the pump. Burned 5 fuses chasing down what I thought was a short. Turned out, the pump rotor contacts the inside of the housing hard enough that the motor wont turn. Pull the motor out, runs great, put the motor in, pops a fuse. What solved it was installing the motor but not locking it inplace. I turned the motor slowly and could hear it starting to contact; pulled it out and could see the plastic on the rotor fraying where it was making contact. Shaved enough off that it finally fit in the housing. I've tried to contact Xylem/Rule with no luck. Not about uninstall it to return it but it would be nice to have a new rotor that fits correctly.

Must have gotten a bad one. Lasted less than 8 hours. Motor got so hot bubbled and warped. Started to leak under water line. Not what you want. Ordered new one hope it was a fluke.

Easy to install
Easy to install. Moves more than enough water for my tank. However, requires petroleum jelly around the cartridge to ensure the seal. I didn't know this and was not prepared on my first weeklong trip in the bush. I used up a lot of lip balm. Remember to take a tube along and check the seal before launching the boat
