The Best Book Ever Written on Bucky's Dome Home
This is a superb book! Historian Cary O'Dell and architect Thad Heckman have written a beautiful book on R. Buckminster Fuller's iconic Dome Home where Bucky lived for a decade while a Visiting Professor at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. The book blends a detailed narrative of the construction, occupancy, and renovation of the Dome with excellent photographs of the people, finance, and politics that swirled around the Dome during its half-century history. O'Dell and Heckman tell this fascinating story with a wry wit, placing this historic piece of architecture firmly within the turbulent 20th Century and beginning of the 21st Century. A truly beautiful book!.

Regenerating an Icon
An enjoyable read that describes the preservation of a truly significant artifact in R. Buckminster Fuller's story. The authors identify the many obstacles that stand in the way, both in the structure of Bucky's singular private residence and the community that surrounds this unusual addition to small-town America. We can thank the dedicated individuals who seek to fully understand the details of this prefabricated dome home, confront the obstacles and even improve the original structure. Bucky's Dome gives us the story and renews our appreciation for Bucky's vision and dream.

Preserving a unique historic artifact
Having been in this dome in 1971 and close friend of its first owner after Bucky, I am delighted that so many have worked so long and hard to preserve this historic structure for for future generations. Mahalo to all those dedicated Bucky enthusiasts.
