This is NOT animal bedding. This is what we used to call straw leavenings. Just straw dust and nubs. No straw "stalks". It's okay for compost, covering seed or digging into the garden. But to use in feral cat shelters, it's worthless. No insulation at all. There's no way a cat could burrow into this for warmth. Or for that matter, could any animal use it for a bed.I've bought FloraCraft 18" straw bales and at least they were usable straw. Too bad I was too desperate and unable to buy at my local garden center because the prices are atrocious.False advertising, EZ Straw and Rhino Seed.

Have seven outside - considered feral cats. Daddy, Mother, two juveniles and three young kittens. Have large cardboard box - used about six inches of straw in bottom of box. Checked it out later that evening and one juvie and three kittens were in the box sound asleep. Still have lots of straw left. It was packed in the plastic bag - good buy. We are predicted to have frigid winter with lots of snow, sleet, ice. Live close to coast in NC - we had hurricane this summer which means we will have snow, etc. this winter. Now to find another medium size box to fill for the other cats. The hay was so compressed that it is almost impossible to tell that any had been removed.

Perfect for and outdoor animal's bedding. I am feeding a stray cat while I try to find her a home. I can't take her in due to my multiple senior cats, so I purchased a cat's A-frame house and filled the inside with this as bedding. The bag is very big and will last a very long time.

This worked perfectly for my raised beds, and around the yard for veggies and flowers. I was quite impressed with the fact that I had no weeds. It breaks down really well and the end of the season. I'd like to see the price come down a bit, but am overall pleased at the functionality for my needs.

My women's group was making cat shelters for the neighborhood cats. (Doing something nice for others helps lift depression.) It is difficult to find straw, not hay, so I tried this. Bad choice!! First off, this is not 19 x 21 x 16 inches as the description says. It is 9x9x16!!!! That is WAY, WAY smaller than a cubic foot. But what is worse, this is not straw. This is straw DUST. There is not a single strand of straw in there. It is completely useless for bedding in the cat shelters. I will be returning this fraud of a product.

This straw is perfect for feral cat shelters. Living in Texas where winters are not extreme, so many homeless animals, so many feral cats. The ones we can catch to get fixed, to help, we do. In the meantime, they need shelter. The cats come in the middle of the night to eat but you can always tell when someone has also bedded down for a warm, comfy sleep. I have 4 shelters in my driveway, some other animal lovers in the neighborhood do the same and put out food.

This stuff was perfect! The right amount for a feral cat house I made. The cat burrowed right into it. I lift the lid from time to time to check on the material and all is good. He created a cat shaper where he sleeps, but I know this helped keep him warm during the winter. The straw was clean and easy to carry in this bag. Good price too. I was so happy with it I purchased a second bag as back up.

I ordered this product, similar to others, for an outdoor cat shelter. The straw came very shredded, in really tiny pieces, but I went with it anyhow. It's still straw, so it works ok. The only issue is that the pieces get stuck all over the cat, and he tracks them into the house (he's an indoor/outdoor cat). I have to keep cleaning it up every day, and also have to refill the shelter fairly regularly. But, the bundle was surprisingly huge for the price!
