Pelican 1500-518-000 1506 TSA Lock , Gray

These lock was fine...On just about any case. For a Pelican Case use two. I ship high value cargo in Pelican case international frequently. Not an issue. But with anything using the right product with the right case matters.TSA standards require how it is made and function. Meaning quality lock. Seems to be a lot of fake reviews on Amazon these day. Easy to use. But I now need to buy another one. On the fourth time through an airport and the third time by bags were opened by the TSA, they decided to cut off the lock rather than use their special FSA key. I can see by the dents in the wire that their wire cutters failed. Eventually the TSA managed to wrench the lock apart. As they told me they are NOT responsible for damage if I lock my case EVEN IF I use an TSA approved lock. What is so interesting about my bag? I check my PC and its assorted power supply and wires which probably shows up on the x-ray hence their curiosity. So, this is obviously a strong lock but remember the TSA does not have to honor the TSA approval if they do not want to and if you put lots of interesting wires in your bag they will want to open it.

Purchase/Shipment: This product was purchased because of the brand recognition I have of Pelican products. I use anything Pelican in order to safely secure my valuables when I travel. The product was ordered and arrived in two (2) days using Amazon Prime's great two-day shipping option! The item was packaged in a bubble mailer and did not suffer any damage upon arrival.30-Day Evaluation: The TSA-approved lock is what I consider a "low-security" lock. I say this because it is very easy to pick TSA-approved locks in general, regardless of brand. I would only use this lock on items that are in your direct possession while you are traveling (i.e. carry-on bag, backpack, briefcase, etc.). However, if you expect to use this lock on something like a public locker, chances are you will find your lock open and empty when you return. Bottom line, use this lock only if you are willing to part with whatever you are securing if you decide to step away from your secured items for long periods of time.I used this lock while deploying to Afghanistan. The lock was used to secure my carry-on backpack while I transited the various airports and terminals. I thought of the lock as more of a "deterrent" than an actual means of security while I sat waiting for my next mode of transportation to my next destination. The lock seamlessly opens whenever you use your chosen three-digit combination. Then again, this lock is only secured by a metal clasp that grips a thin, but sturdy, cable.The lock works well for what it is designed to do and kept my backpack secure during my entire trip downrange. It was great for locking zippers that are at odd angles or are of different sizes. The cable-lock method makes this possible. Again, choose the right lock for the right occasion. With that said, this lock works as it is designed to do and am still an advocate of Pelican-branded products!

Lock works wonderful. The biggest disappointment is that it was not put back onto my luggage on my last trip from Dubai to Dulles. I bought a Samonite replacement and it is not as good.

I Purchased these for my pelican case so I can travel with my firearm. No problems at all. I’ve made several trips through TSA and no problems.

90 day review - JUNK!! threw out 2 of them.Number wheels for combo are small, hard to read, and very loose - number wheels slip a lot so it is not easy to dial in the code - wheels don't 'click' in to place. Lock itself was fine for 6 trips so far, but did not last for 90 days. Pelican should be ashamed to have their name on these.Master lock sells similar size but much better construction for $10 all day at home depot and lowes - go get them there or find the Master TSA set here on amazon - combo wheels are black and white contrast so they are easy to read, and they click in place to hold the combo and open as designed.

I am very pleased with this lock. I've used a plastic Master TSA lock before - the thing was a pain. It was way too easy to accidentally change the combination, and the shackle was too short to easily get through the trunk I was locking. In addition, getting the shackle lined up and re-locked was difficult because of the length of the shackle. This lock, on the other hand, is terrific. Easy to change the combination to what I want, but hard to do so accidentally. Very solid. Easy to latch to my trunk, and easy to lock. As TSA locks go, this in the only one I will consider in the future.

I'm not sure if Pelican actually makes this or not, but it definitely is made solid like their travel cases. I bought the Pelican 1750 case to transport my 338 Lapua Mag rifle to go on Elk hunts. Having one of these locks on each of the 2 metal lock latches on the case will give me comfort that my rifle will make it securely to my destination and only the TSA will get into that case.The knobbs are very smooth and tight (not sloppy and unprecise like other TSA locks I have owned) and the cable/locking mechanism seems much stronger than other locks in this category that I have owned. The body of this lock does not flex and feels like it was constructed to take a lot of abuse.

I use this lock to secure photo equipment when traveling. Good value and high quality.

I had initially given this product a low review, not so much because of the product but do to the incredible long shipping period it took for the supplier to send it to me. Since I originally submitted the owner of the supplier has personally contacted me and made arrangements for complete satisfaction. I was very impressed that the owner would take his time to review the feedback and take action directly. It does not absolve him of the initial problem but truly shows his willingness to go the extra mile to satisfy his customers.Was not able to access my initial feedback otherwise I would have adjusted it as well

Pricey but good quality. Number wheels have a nicely defined tracking feel to them and line up well. Push button is solid. Steel cable feels sturdy. This lock can be used for pretty much any case/luggage but is built for the pelican case and looks great on it.
