It is very detailed. It goes into face shape and what type of brow fits best for that face. Even goes thought what type of eye glasses best fit you and your brows and face shape! And explains why threading is not the best thing for your brows. This was money well spent!! I would buy this book for all classmates if I had the money to. I went to Aesthetics school boy did they blow in teaching us brows:( thanks alot Aveda! This book will teach u all u need to know! I hate that it's not in color but I think it's for a reason so that we pay more attention to the brows not to the make up and so on . Book came a reasonable amount of time. I'm happy

I never realized the impact that properly groomed and trimmed eyebrows can do for a face until I read this book. I had never given much thought to my eyebrows other than to make sure they didn't overgrow and look ugly. However, I was never satisfied by my eyebrows and always found them lacking. It was the weak link in my made-up face. After reading this book and buying a few inexpensive supplies, I'm happy to say that I know what to do for my brows and I love the finished look my makeup now has. (And I didn't need to use stencils!)The information obtained in this book makes it possible for any woman to have neat, attractive eyebrows that are best shaped for her own face. Nancy Parker also advises on what to do if you have more pronounce facial features, such as widely spaced eyes or a dominant nose. She also helps you figure out which type of eyebrow makeup will work best for your existing brows to get the look you want. (Brow powder vs. brow pencil, what color, etc.)Because this book reads so quickly, you'll be off and ready to do your own eyebrows before you know it. However, please take the time to you make your plan of action before you start plucking (or waxing) away - it will be so worth it! Stencils are not required.The b/w photos are nothing sophisticated, but they serve the point of showing the impact of what brows can do.After reading this book, I've never been able to look at brows the same again now that I know how much they can affect the face. I now see the brow effect in every model and magazine ad I come across.Beautiful Brows is a great book for the average laywoman who wants to gain knowledge on how to manage and make beautiful her own eyebrows. It's worth the modest price for a lifetime of beautiful brows.

This is a nice book, a bit hard to understand, but overall it gets the job done. It helps you choose the right brow for the right face shape and helps you with tips to trimming and so much more. For the price this book beats not knowing what your doing, saves you a lot of time and hassel figuring out what to do with your brows. Good book.

This little book definitely offers some excellent tips for learning how to groom your brows. It begins by reviewing five basic brow shapes and then discussing how to choose the best brow for your own face shape and features. The teaching part of the book describes how to shape and color your brows, reviews various hair removal techniques, and provides guidelines for using the most popular shaping methods. The book ends with a list of famous brows--eg, Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Madonna--and how to acheive them.Despite the good information contained therein, I found the style and format of this book to be unappealling; for me, this detracted from the book's utility. I was surprised to learn that the book was published in 2000, as it has a very dated look and feel to it. When pictures are used (black and white only), the very overdone and made-up appearance of the women is reminiscent of the 1980s, and the quality of the photos is poor. Most of the illustrations are in the form of simple line drawings; they were easy to understand but not at all enjoyable to use. If you are looking for some basic guidelines on brow grooming, this book is likely to be helpful, but keep in mind that the book is just that--basic.

This is the only book you'll need if you want to be able to do your own eyebrows and have them look great. I have been going to professional beauty therapists for years and was always disapointed with how my eyebrows turned out. How do I know this book was better than going to professionals? After reading this book I did my own eyebrows while my husband was out, when he came back home he looked at me and said "you look really pretty" before I told him I had done anything.This book was quick to read, clearly set out, and had lots of great tips to make doing my own eyebrows as easy as possible. I also loved the price.

I'm delighted with this little book. I finished the book in about 3 hours - including a deep decent into nerd-dom with my trusty ruler. Some tidbits I didn't even know:- I thought I had an oval face - nope it is more of a heart.- I had no ideas about using brows to balance my features.- I thought but wasn't sure about my best brow type and have experimented lots with it. Again, intuition confirmed, my face with its shape and dominant features does best with a relatively high arched, rounded, fuller brow.I definitely recommend this book for any woman not satisfied with her brows and those not familiar with face shapes / balancing features.
