Utralite is an engineered product and is a lighter weight form of MDF (medium density fiberboard). As a manufactured product there is greater consistency from piece to piece than with real solid wood. Ultralite is easy to work with and cuts, mitres, nails and staples easily. Because it comes primed and ready for painting, is inexpensive and easy to use it is commonly used for many projects around the home which include: moldings and millwork, built in furniture, interior trim, cabinets and mantles.
