RadioShack Phone Recorder Controller (Multi/Single) 43-421 by RadioShack

I have had two of these for years. They work great. No external power needed. Just plug one end into your phone jack and then plug your phone into this device. Plug the large jack into the "mic" jack of your recorder and the small jack into the "remote" jack of your recorder if your recorder has one (many do not, the purpose of the remote jack being to automatically turn the recorder on and off). One caution is in order. Laws vary from state to state or jurisdiction about recording phone calls. Some like Kentucky require only the consent of at least one party to the conversation, like me. No warnings required to others. But some jurisdictions require the consent of all. Because this device gives no warning the call is being recorded, you may need to provide that warning yourself if you are recording your calls in a jurisdiction that requires multiple consents.

The item simply failed to perform adequately. While it is true that I was able record both sides of a phone conversation, it is true in only the broadest sense. My side of the conversation recorded well. My caller's voice, though, was barely audible on the recording (made using GarageBand on my iMac). I tried several times, adjusting various settings on my recording software and iMac interface, but nothing worked. I do need to say that the return process was both simple and easy.

This device works with my Panasonic wireless phone set.Easy to set up

This works very well if you can find a tape recorder with remote plug. The only drawback is that it may not work on the multi phone setting. In my case, I have to set it to single phone and connect it to a multi phone cordless. This is the newer version. The really old one had two settings so that you could tweak its performance. I used to sell them at R.S. That was in the 80s though. Good luck finding one of those. If you do get it. Anyway, it makes an excellent recording and otherwise works flawlessly. If you run into the same problem as me, apply the solution I described.

This works great for me. Both voices on the phone line are clear with very little static.

Arrived broken in a ripped-open box with handwriting all over the torn instructions. - Very poor quality control

This device worked perfectly for my needs, which were simple. I'm happy with it!
