Works straight out of the box, even on Linux!
I had been searching for some time for an affordable magnet-tape option for archiving family photos and documents. All others I had come across previously ran for upwards of $1000. I'm primarily a Linux user and was fully expecting to do low-level mounting and use of the mnt GNU utility at minimum to get it to work, and and most might even need to custom develop my own driver software as it didn't list Linux as a supported OS.Boy was I surprised when I hooked it into my USB port and put in a tape it popped right up in my Nautilus filesystem GUI! I didn't even have to mount it or partition it, it just worked! Super pleased and will definitely continue with this company, and would happily recommend to anyone wanting to archive their data on magnet tapes, be it industrial or personal

Does not come with power supply, does not include that info in description.
My problem is not with the drive itself but with the seller. No where in the description does it say that this drive does not come with a power supply. It comes with a cable that has two USB connections to power the unit via USB but that does not work on my Dell Server. I bought this through my company with a PO and now I have to pay for a power supply out of my own money.

No power cable included
I bought this in 2024 to replace an older model Tandberg RDX Quikstor that I'd originally installed in 2014. So I'm please that the old one gave me 9.5 years of use before it died. However, this unit does not come with a power cable. Instead, they want you to use two USB ports, and due to the Y at the end of the cable the ports *need* to be near each other.Unfortunately all of our Dell servers only have 2 USB ports in the back, and we need to use one of those for the KVM switch (as it needs to be near the VGA adapter). The unit has a port for a power cable, there's just no power cable included. I wish the description had stated this. If you don't have two available USB ports in close proximity to each other, this is not the unit for you unless you find a power cable. If I had two free USB ports, or if they had included a power cable, I'd rate these with 5 stars. But since I have to go through the headache of having to find a way to power this thing, I'm only giving it 3 stars.

Its much faster than USB-2 model
I've been an RDX user for many years. Love the rugged removable cartridge for keeping a backup copy offsite. With this USB-3 dock connected to a USB-3 pro of hub, the same data cartridges read and write much faster. Backups on a MacBookPro finish in a few minutes now. Sometimes took hours on an old USB-2 dock. Worthwhile upgrade.

Good Backup Device
This is a great backup device. I found it to be very economical for a mid-sized backup solution. I use it with rack servers that have no room for an internal drive. Performance is solid.
