Beginner Aerial Silks Pose Guide (The Aerial Attitude)

Great book, very well done!
What a great book. The lay out and language used to describe the movements and shapes is very easily understood. The photography is excellent and the directions of how to enter and exit the poses is clear and concise. It makes this complicated art form manageable for anyone interested in learning the fine points of aerial silk art form. Sam Mellor and company knock it out of the park! Great job.

Great step by step pictorial instructions
Great step by step pictorial instructions. Lots of moves I've already learned in my beginner class but I needed these written instructions to help me as I practice them on my own. Plenty of additional moves and poses to add on as well. I'm very happy with this book! Now I just need some one to read them to me as I'm on the silk.

Good for self-learners
This guide provides good quality photos to demonstrate the poses in a clear, easy-to-learn manner, if you've already had some aerial silks practice.

This manual is definitely basic, and almost insulting.
If you don't know anything about aerial silks, this is a definite month 1 jump start. It is an absolute beginner's manual. It doesn't take into account strength, so perhaps if you pair it with actually taking professional classes with silks conditioning, it could be a good reminder of what is in class. HOWEVER, I would have MUCH preferred the models in the manual to be more conservatively clothed. It makes me wonder if the manual was published to bring attention to the models/authors, or if it was really for their audience. I purchased this manual to determine if it was worth recommending. I will be recommending against purchase of this manual. It's worth paying more for other manuals that contain more content, and less focus on the what the models are or are not wearing than the lessons taught in the manual. The information is fine, if you need a cheap jump start reminder of what your teachers have taught you. Then go invest in more classes or different manuals. Also, for beginners, it doesn't matter much, but as professionals, the micro-bending shown in the models' form throughout the manual, is unprofessional. I would think that the images would have been reviewed by a professional and retaken for the manual before approving them for publication. But, beginner aerialists won't notice. I certainly have plenty of those photos of my early aerial journey.

This one's a keeper!
I fell in love with this book the minute I started to open the pages. Beautiful color photos. Large print too. The progression of moves is logical. On each page the format is: entry into a move, safety concerns followed by techniques and tips. It was only when I got to the end of the book that I realized that there is no climbing to be done! From a beginner's point of view, this is a blessing because it is so easy to be 'put off' from doing aerials if you haven't got the strength yet to climb. I know by the time I have finished enjoying doing all of the moves in this book, that my body will naturally start to build muscle in the shoulder and arm areas.

Easy but detailed
The box is easy to follow and touches on all the beginning points but is also very detailed in the explanation and the pictures are great!

Lovely pictures, but it only covers very basic poses
The pictures are high quality and it is a beautiful book, but it is very beginner and limited in variety (lots of poses here are variants of the same poses, presented with different names). This would be most helpful for someone brand new to aerial silks.

Easy to understand, a perfect guide
Pros+ Loads of pictures that are easy to understand, with all the neccessary steps to bring you into pose+ Easy descriptions, no unneccesary stuff written+ All Poses I learned in a beginners class, so great for beginners+ Warum up and stretching exercisesCons- no book quality, more like a printed script. Which is okay, but should get mentioned.- there is no intermediate version of this! Would wish for that from the authorStill 5 stars, since there is no comparable lierature on that
