Enlightenment: A Sacred Collection

This album is an impressive synthesis of four recent albums by Karunesh, and therefore a great deal and a good introduction to this very distinct "new age"/world/electronic artist. I have been collecting the best of this kind of music for more than three decades, now (Steve Roach, Tangerine Dream, Robert Rich, Between Interval, Kitaro, Tibetan Bells...) and only recently discovered Karunesh. He offers a wonderful combination of meditative, ethnic, upbeat, and electronic/space music that is different from any of these other artists and yet has a pleasing familiarity to it. Most of his compositions have a meditative tone, using (sometimes sampled) wooden flutes, bells and drums with just enough sythesizer to enhance the atmosphere and give the sound a contemporary feel. The upbeat numbers tend toward the light side, still calming but compellingly danceable, and can be inspiring or a little on the stereotypical new age side, depending on your taste--or mood.Unlike much of this kind of music, Karunesh never makes me impatient, even when he's playing the same drum/sythnthesizer riff over and over like heartbeats, repeating the motif FOUR songs in a row (!) as he does on the album Heart Chakra Meditation. "ENLIGHTENMENT" also offers some similar-sounding songs in a more upbeat tempo, but the tunes are so catchy and hummable it's a pleasure to experience them again.Too much variety, perhaps, for bedtime music (which much of his music is suited for) but that rare album that is soothing and invigorating at the same time.

Just me maybe. While the music is well arranged on this CD I thought it would be more spiritual and traditional. While it contains some Tibetan like music or use of sitar it also sounds at times like a Mike Oldfield production. I love other works of Karunesh so I guess the cover of the CD made me think I was going to obtain a CD of meditation music, Silly me....I would still recommend that others look into the music of Karunesh. . It is well done.

I have heard in a long time. I had several CDs by Karunesh already but this one has all my favorite songs on this particular CD. Listen to it all the time when I am working on boring projects or feel to sit and meditate while listening. THanks for great work to all the talented musicans

I love music, love many different varieties of music and this just fit the bill, flowing and quite relaxing, different from others I have downloaded from Amazon. I liked the entire collection, most of all : "sunrise at the Ganges" and "ancient voices". I will be buying more from this artist definitely and highly recommend for this style of music.

Very relaxing music. Something to listen to when sewing and craft work.

I have had a life long interest with those things not native to England nor yet, part of my psyche. Hindu music and Mantras have filled those vacant areas to the extent that I became more willing to interact socially. Karunesh, studied such trancendental music structures to the effect that the multi-tonalities became more westernised under his interpretations.

Fantastic, I shall be buying the rest of Karunesh's music.

Karunesh hat ja generell schöne ruhige Musik ... diese CD ist da keine Ausnahme. Was man wissen sollte, alle Titel sind bereits auf anderen CD's erschienen....also nix Neues. Die Hülle ist leider nur eine simple Digi-Pack Ausgabe. Ein Punkt habe ich abgezogen für das Cover.... das lädt nicht unbedingt zum Kaufen ein und sieht im Original noch extremer aus, als auf dem Foto....

This collection of music is outstanding! I highly recommend this CD to anyone who already loves Karunesh's music, and to anyone who wants to discover it for themselves.

Beautiful soothing and relaxing variety of music. Excellent for yoga, relaxation, meditation and healing! Many different sounds, I.e. Gongs, flutes, etc! Absolutely wonderful!

quand on découvre Karunesh on est séduit par ses mélodies à la croisée des cultures ainsi que par l'usage d'instruments exotiques variés mais au fil des CD et des écoutes le charme s'envole faute à un schéma musical répétitif

j'adore, cela traduit entièrement ce CD qui correspond à mes attentes. Instant magiques, il est très beau ce CD et c'est un grand moment d'évasion et de sérénité
