Schmidt's Moon Flower Natural Deodorant Stick 2.65 Ounce

I’ve tried a lot of different ‘natural’ deodorants & to me, Schmidt’s offers the best combination of performance with value. I can normally get Schmidt’s for under seven bucks & have occasionally found it for less than five. So although a product like Lume works very well, I can’t justify the additional cost.And the cheaper ‘natural’ deodorants either don’t work as well or they have some sketchy other ingredients (Toms, Dove “aluminum free” and that absolutely terrible product by Arm & Hammer, etc).Schmidt’s has two downsides. The texture is a little granular, so I have to rub it in to my skin with my fingers & let the warmth from my hands melt it. Then you don’t have graininess. Also, the oil base in this will 100% stain the underarms of delicate blouses. I ruined a silk blouse this way. So even though I greatly prefer the performance of this product, I keep some Every Man Jack natural deodorant around for when I’m wearing anything that has a tight fit under my underarms. It’s a clear gel & doesn’t stain. But since I live in sleeveless tops 9 months of the year & layer long sleeve tees under sweaters for our 3 cold months, it’s not that big of a deal.I’ve used a number of the scents & I have to say I freaking love moon flower. It smells like star anise with a little white floral. Since I love licorice, and would gladly wear a licorice perfume if I found one, I love the fragrance of this. If you prefer mass market sugar sweet scents, this isn’t for you. In fact, since it has an herbal edge to it, my husband uses this too- so if unisex fragrances aren’t your thing, you’ve been warned. Regardless, the scent dissipates fairly quickly in all of the Schmidt products.But, anyway, I found a good deal on the subscribe & save 3 pack of this & just ordered it since I liked the first one I bought so much. The Schmidt products really work & if you’re willing to spend a few extra seconds in application, you’ll love this product, btw- Lume has the same grainy texture if you were wondering. Just don’t use this with silk blouses!

It works well and smells nice, but the texture is gritty and actually kinda painful to apply at times.

So this definitely smells a bit strange... it's floral at first and then finishes with a bit of anise or black licorice. For me, it's not big deal for two reasons. First, for some reason, the scents in deodorants don't really last on me, especially these natural ones. And second, this stuff WORKS!I have a really strong natural body odor and it is way more intense if I'm stressed. It's my body and I accept it but I don't need to impose it on others. So I've been searching high and low for a more natural option (Native, Lume, other wipe on crystal things, and so on) and the Schmidt's line really works for me. The only reason I purchased this scent is because I was confident it would work and the price was too hard to beat. My husband won't wear this scent, so he gets the more expensive other scents and, franlky, doesn't need something that works so well so he'll be using the rest of my other fails.A couple of things -- this has baking soda in it so it IS ABRASIVE. I have found that my tendency is to over apply. I really try to press it against my skin for a solid 5 seconds, then swipe up once and down once. Usually after that, I can gently rub any crumbles off and I really try not to rub anything "into" my skin -- again, it has an abrasive substance in it so if you rub it on your skin, you're probably going to get irritated skin. I know I have!And that's another thing... these deodorants DO seem to create small crumbles. I just apply and then stand over the sink and gently rub or brush the crumbles off. It doesn't bother me but if it that will bother you, probably look elsewhere. For me, the effectiveness of the product makes it impossible for me to dislike it for any reason.

It smells ok I wouldn’t know how to describe the smell but it’s not a nasty smelling kind of smell. It’s not floral or vanilla like smell. And I don’t know how a moon flower smells like but the smell is ok. But the product itself, I’m not to sure about it. It leaves clumps of deodorant on you and I have to rub it on myself with my fingers because when I try to apply it as it is, it’s very rough. I don’t really mind having to rub it on myself since it doesn’t smell bad but it’s not something I would do voluntarily. At first I thought it was because I hadn’t waxed yet but even after I waxed it was still the same when applying it. I usually start smelling bad the next day after (I shower at night). But with this one I don’t, I smell just like the deodorant but this may vary on others.

For the people posting pictures of the look of the deodorant- it’s supposed to look like that. Hence “moon” flower… it has a texture/look like the moon….Okay so the reviews seemed so mixed as far as scent goes.. let me give my mixed feelings haha. My initial thought was that the scent was interesting, but honestly didn’t think about it too much at all. No natural deodorant on the market has that overwhelming deodorant scent like traditional-full of bs and toxins-deodorant. So this was no exception, it had a scent but I couldn’t put my finger on what it reminded me of.Then my darling partner was laying NEAR me on the couch and looked up and asked me if I was wearing a new scent… I shared how I bought a new deodorant scent because it was dirt cheap- $12 for a 4 pack. I love this man but he is by no means the most opinionated or observant about such things. He did however share that he very much preferred a different scent and that this scent was very overwhelming to him and smelled “not the greatest”… he has not made a comment on my scent good or bad in almost 6 years of being together. Needless to say, for some people it can be quite pungent.I tolerate it but I will say over time it does have a funky smell to it. It smells like black licorice. Which I enjoy eating but have no desire to smell like it. Over all, won’t buy the moon flower scent again but happy with the price point for my fave natural deodorant!

At first I didn’t like the smell. Wearing it a few times changed my mind. I started to love it! I only need a small amount and it seems to work fine.
