love exists in a fine colorful book
I must have put at least 30 sticky notes in this book; as a representation of the underlying page/artist whose work resonates with me. Each page gives a short visual and/or philosophical insight into each "artist work". The author writes it in an artistic prose filled with description. I recommend reading a book on modern art theory before picking up to book to maximize studying each page if that is your goal to such question like ; is this painting or is this art? I enjoy this book for its color pages and short summary and can be completed in a few days. On the downside, it is difficult to learn and know which artist to study more of from such a summary book without knowing the theory or what the artist intended as they rarely give that away. First impression is never lasting impression.

Miniature Book
Sadly, I forgot to check book dimensions; this is the portable version. The pictures are too small to truly appreciate, or even examine closely. A big disappointment, but that's on me - I should have checked. Went back and purchased the full sized hardcover version, even though I dislike hardbacks.

I like it but its too small
I like it but its too small. I should have been more careful and looked at the product dimensions. The content is exactly as expected though. A huge collection of artists in one book with high quality photographs of their works, descriptions and background information about artists.

Exceptional volume.
This book, while not quite a coffee table size is significantly sized so that the reader/viewer can appreciate the wonderfully rich color printing that is true to life and affixed to a very nice paper stock. This is a book that you will open again and again when the need comes for a generous feast of artistic eye candy.

Nice "coffee table" book
An interesting compilation of artwork of important 20th century artists. Equally interesting is what is not in the book.

Super nice, so organized!
Very cool. My art profs all had the original "the art book, but when I stumbled upon this,.I knew it was for me, because modern art, especially surrealism and pop art, have always been my favorites!

handy to have around
Artist listed alphabetically with one example of their work. Each page has short commentary on the example included and gives pointers of other artists connected to them. The images themselves are small but clear.

Fantastic referance book
Pocket sized book, lots of cross referencing as to who was inspired by who, I bought this copy to give to a friend as I was so impressed with my own copy purchased whilst doing a city and guilds design course.I wanted to share the delights. ideal springboard for further exploration into artists work.

Good. Would prefer more than one example of some artist's work.
I think it would be worth stretching the format to include two or more works by some of the artists. For example, the Andy Warhol page (obviously) has the Soup Can but nothing else. However, it is a good introduction to 20th century art for a newcomer like me.

Excellent reference book
This is a good handbook for concise information on the wide selection of 20th century artists covered. My only complaint is that it tends to address mainly the representative picture selected, and not always generalise enough on the artists overall works.
