Beautiful account of community growth and resiliency
Powers has an amazing way of drawing you in to the communities that he writes about, which in this case is a charming and colorful Bolivian "eco-town." His reflections on what it might take to be both sustainable and happy are very relevant to the environmental challenges we are facing today as a society, and how we may combat them together, in community. An excellent read that will both challenge and inspire your worldview.

Wonderful Book, Wonderful Living the New Dream
To me, everything William Powers writes is good. I loved Twelve By Twelve, was enraptured by New Slow City, and with the latest book in the trilogy, once again, Powers eloquently puts into words what I feel. I want to capture a new dream for myself and my family. I can't live in Bolivia (although I did recently start learning Spanish) but I like to take grains of truths that he stir is my heart and put it into place in my big city life in the rat race of Silicon Valley in California. Thank you, William Powers for speaking my truth and making me believe that maybe I can live my 2,000 square foot version of his Twelve By Twelve, slow down in my full-time, stressful job like in New Slow City, and maybe capture the dream of living the sweet life with my crazy family in the San Francisco Bay Area!

Inspiring!
A brilliant, extraordinary, and heartfelt book! A wonderful joy to read about how to get back to the simple things in our lives that matter. Bill Powers makes you feel like you are right there with him and his family here in the states and then in Bolivia going through all the trials & tribulations to be less of the so called “American Dream”.Highly recommend all of his books though I read them from present to past! You wouldn’t be sorry and maybe even a little curious how you too can get off the hamster wheel! Living the “Slow Life” where friends, family, nature, and what matters to you comes above all else.
